So last night I was restless and thought I'd buy myself a trashy book for my Kindle and pass out softly after reading a few chapters.
Now, let me preface this by saying that some folks think "trashy" equals "romance". I don't read romance. As a matter of fact, I have never read a romance book. Nope, for me, "trashy" is a work of fiction that I can dive into decadently (or sometimes not if it sucks) and forget the world. I had read "The Passage" last month on June and Irishgrrl's recommendation (read it if you havent!) and thought it was pretty delicious so I wanted to find something similar. Went to Amazon and saw this on the "people who bought this also bought": [ame="http://www.amazon.com/Reapers-Are-Angels-Novel-ebook/dp/B003P8Q5JO/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1299298388&sr=8-4"]Amazon.com: The Reapers Are the Angels: A Novel eBook: Alden Bell: Kindle Store[/ame] I must confess, I started reading at 9 last night and finished it this afternoon. It's a short book, about 300 pages but is a beautifully written post-apocalypse zombie fiction that reads much more like good literature than zombie trash. If you liked "The Road", "The Passage" or most Southern Gothics, I highly recommend this one. The imagery is stark and often hard to read (triggery) but is well worth it if you have a few hours to spare. I give it 4/5 stars only because I wished it was longer ![]() And don't get me wrong, this isn't "War and Peace" or "Anna Karenina", but it's good fiction. I think you'll appreciate it.
