oh, i can imagine how susceptible to florida rays your skin! hope the sunburn is a little better by now. feel free to come over and pick some fresh aloe vera. i was busy today! spent an afternoon with a friend in winter park, and we drove to visit another friend - all of us going way back in years/friendship. met some cool dogs along the way! so nice to have my car driving how it should, and i'm going over to cranes roost to walk tonight. i am glad that you had a good time yesterday at the beach. i bought a big watermelon today for 2.49$ at fancy fruits and vegetables. want some of it? ha.

Hello everyone. Hope you all are having a good weekend so far. Mine has been productive. Today i noticed some neighborhood kids interest in something in the grass. I asked what they were looking at and was told, a blind squirrel. They said he was there yesterday in the same spot. I put him in a pet carrier and tossed in some shredded paper. Its a baby and only one eye is cloudy. So hopefully the other eye is ok. I gave him some peanuts and was relieved to see him eating them. I had to run to the pet store for a water bottle and to see what other food they might have to feed him. He's in the basement now. If anyone has any information to share on caring for him, I'd appreciate it. Hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

i had a very long post composed earlier, and just came back to check about the squirrel- only to find my above post lacking in information!

we kept squirrels in a warm room where we could keep an eye on them. mainly, you will want to make sure the squirrel does not feel cold to the touch; place an old dish towel or t-shirt in with him. it would be ideal if he had a habitat similar to what is natural to wild squirrels; they are typically very active [understatement], and need branches upon which to hang, climb, and chew. pine cones and oak leaves are a good idea if you can find some.

their diet in the wild does not consist soley of peanuts and/or acorns- in fact, too many of these throw the calcium/phosphorus ratio off nutritional track, contribute to MBD [metabolic bone disease]. they like to eat leafy green plants, bird eggs, insects, et c. during my work on a state permit with the DNR in indiana, the formula we fed young - teen squirrels was a mixture we syringe fed warm, and it takes a few attemps to get the technique down- some are harder to feed than others. the chow was primate food. they take the aforementioned along with other foods to compliment their diet as close to living in the wild [before being released]. your squirrel may not be able to return to the wild, and so it's a good idea to discuss options with an expert in the field.

very important = he or she will need to keep hydrated, and it's easy enough to check by lightly pinching skin on the back of his/her neck or else on his back. squirrels have very sharp teeth and nails. they can cause serious damage to delicate human skin.

i cannot place enough emphasis on locating a wildlife rehabilitator in your area. a lot of times, people who work with squirrels also rehab rabbits so make sure to check this on the net also. i may have left off some things, as i am writing this for the second time and it's getting late. hopefully the link i sent to you will be of some help.

Hi Belle, Thank you for the info. I checked the referral directory on the MD Wildlife Rehabilitators Association website and have plenty of options. It would probably be in the squirrels best interest to go to one of theses places. I'll start calling around at a reasonable hour. Thanks again

Good morning singles, everyone.i have had an awsome week with friends and family that came down for the bike run here but im kinda glad its done. everyone is heading home in a couple hours. i had a stray dog come in my front door last night. she was very skinny and has an eye infection. she a beautiful buff cocker puppy that hasnt been taken care of. my dog "karma" even let her eat from his bowl guess he knew she needed help. turns out someone droped her over the fence at my neibors then he let her out to roam. not sure if ill keep her but i will make sure she gets cared for.
hope everyone is doing well.

I started on the dash site after a friend of mine from aol told me about it. It has been almost four years since I joined the dash site and almost two years for this site. I have met five people in real life from both sites and I enjoyed it!

Glad to hear that you had fun with your family! I hope you keep the new baby puppy! When people do this to animals, I just want to go find them and call the cops on them. That is what happened to Matt's cat, Athena's mom. Her owners dropped her off in the back parking lot of DeVry and just left her.
