I made a sack lunch to take with me on my hike today:

two apples (winesaps)
homemade granola mix w/almonds, coconut & morello cherries
smoked salmon
chocolate owls
&
several bottles of artesian water

I've often wondered why they are called western cut. Are they markable different than an eastern, or northern cut. Is there even such a thing? Are they cut in some fashion that they resemble some other cut, therefore requiring their own name. Or maybe some special western style knife is used in the cutting process?
