![]() The BoSox meltdown continues. The Yankees helped us to maintain a 2.5 game lead in the wild card by spanking the Rays. But, the Angels are 2.5 games out as well now. I dont know where the heck the Angels came from. We have 6 games left and basically need to win 5 out of the 6. Oy. We finish on the road with 3 in Yankee Stadium - I suspect this will not be pretty. And 3 in Baltimore who just cleaned the floor with us. It is discouraging to see them have leads only to blow them late in the game. The hitting cant keep pace with the pathetic excuse of a pitching staff. Even the veterans are doing sucky now. Theo Epstein is going to have a lot to answer to for not getting us some quality replacement pitching down the stretch. Francona has been forced to piece together a rotation of youngins from triple AAA and reliever veterans who have been fading the entire second half of the season. Bard, once tried and true, has become a huge liability. I think we have won 6 games in September and given away about 18. Sigh. Even if we manage to find ourselves in the playoffs, I dont think we have the ability to last longer than the first round. I am pleased for the Tigers tho. What a pesky team they have become. Aside from Victor Martinez, is there anyone on that team that is old enough to shave? It would be great to see them in the World Series. I will be rooting for them. |
