Awwww, so cute

Anywho's. I'm fixing to get ready to go to the inlaws. Kassie has to take her Fur Baby who lives there to the vet, he apparently has an infected foot. Then I'm going to finish up some paperwork I've been putting off.

Then, hopefully I'm going to hang out with Belinda tonight

I friggin LOVE days off!!!

Default Confession time for me too :(

As many of you know I have been dealing with being pretty sick with pneumonia the past 2 weeks. Hence, I have not felt like cooking and the only thing my kid knows how to cook is pasta LOL. Sooooo...it has meant LOTS of take out/delivery. I gained 4 pounds and it REALLY pisses me off. I know, I know, I will get back on the wagon when I feel better. Gawd, I wish I could just wake up skinny LOL.

Warmly,
Jewel

I refuse to let it happen.

I'm still in this guys.

I still need you.

I'm still here for you

Let's not let this thread die.

BIG BIG BIG HUGS to you gorgeous!!

It's ok Candace, we all have those times when life seems to get in the way. You are doing an amazing job at not only keeping yourself motivated, but others as well! You just keep that goal in your heart and mind, and you'll be back on track. YOU CAN DO IT honey... YES YOU CAN!

I think that this cold, gloomy, rainy & snowy weather has a lot of us in a funk. It is soooo easy to lounge on the couch in our pjs, watch movies & nibble all day ~ this weather just screams for that. But, we have to find a way to get up and get motivated. I am soooo guilty of this myself, but I know that I am the only one that is gonna change me! So, I am making a pledge to myself & my friends here, that I WILL do something... anything to get my heart rate up & get my body moving!

Arwen stated before that she didn't exercise one day, but instead put on her iPod and danced around in her living room. Guess what... that's still moving & burning calories. It's an awesome idea.... and we all have those favorite songs that we just can't help dancing too!!!

THANK YOU all again, for being such a supportive community... of applauding our accomplishments & encouraging eachother when we slip ~ the power of POSITIVE is a beautiful thing!

Have a fabulous day!!!

Candace, it hurts my heart to see you being so hard on someone I love. Please be nicer to my friend, okay? She's trying really hard and is making good progress. Slips are to be expected. This is a lifestyle change not just a diet.

Just like our muscles want to go back to old patterns, so do our emotional selves. Many of us eat for emotional reasons. And that's the hardest thing to break because we have old tapes going in our head when we are doing that.

So remember you are eliminating all that old negativity from your head.

Please don't replace it with new negative tapes. Focus on the positive, beautiful woman you are!

My personal positive is that I've really upped my water intake. I'm doing really really good at getting eight 8oz glasses a day when I'm at work. Harder at home because I do not like tap water.

Guess it's time to buy a Brita(tm) filter or something like that.

my thoughts on overeating
it happens.
It is not realistic or possible to be perfect. (if you manage it let me know 'k)

My fall back when thinking about weight issues is how do normal people eat?

Normal people: those that do not have any type of eating disorder, who eat what they want in moderation, don't obsess about food all the time, who manage a healthy weight for themselves(not necessarily thin), who are not on "diets", who don't count calories or weigh themselves all the time with out reason: (a reason would be a diabetic having to count carbs for insulin) and who can be reasonably active in their lives (based on ability, some are differently abled) and someone who stops eating when full most of the time and lastly someone who can have their favorite foods in the house without overeating them or obsessing about it.

So if my goal is to become a "normal eater" then I need to start with "normal" goals.

I am not going to expect "perfect behavior" from myself. It isn't possible so lets start with a reasonable expectations for behavior.

If, having set reasonable expectations, I globalize a mistake, (when say, you ate cookies and instead of thinking, I ate cookies, you think something along the lines of "I am a horrible person" "I hate myself" "I am a fat/ugly/disgusting person" then you are globalizing an action into what kind of person you are. This kind of thinking has to be challenged again and again. It is not healthy.

This type of global thinking happens for many people in lots of situations not just with overeating/weight loss. Sometimes, what people call self esteem I really think is having a realistic view of ones own humanity, an understanding that one will make mistakes, and having the ability to see a mistake as a mistake, not a reflection on who one is as a person. And really, if you think about it, it is really arrogant to think one can be perfect. If we all logically know no one is perfect, but then psychically slaughter ourselves when we make a mistake, are we not really saying/thinking "WE" shouldn't make mistakes? But we all have to make mistakes, why should "WE" be any different? Unless of course we, at some level, have different standards for ourselves.

If say, I hurt your feelings, I will be sorry and I will feel bad, will think about how to make sure it doesn't happen again. But no where along the line will I think I am a bad person or hate myself for making a mistake and hurting your feelings. I don't globalize my errors, except with food. I have spent 6 + months focusing and working on this area. I have made huge amounts of progress. I, (me, what I need, have to do, no one else LOL) want this last part of my head screwed on correctly.

I want to listen to my body, stop when I am full, eat when I am hungry, feel the difference between actual hunger and emotional hunger. And ya know what, if I listen and know I am hearing emotional hunger I can make a choice, I can chose to eat or not. And I can chose how much.

And another thing, cause apparently I am on a roll tonight, I can think I want something and STOP when I realize it doesn't taste good. Gosh how often do we think we want something and start eating and realize this doesn't taste so good, but we keep eating, not even liking it. Why would we eat stuff that isn't yummy? When you really stop and taste stuff so much of what you think is yummy isn't. Especially sweet stuff. So much stuff is to fatty, to sweet, to salty or just is bland with no flavor.

End of ramble!

Diva, the guac is in my fridge. I am going to stuff it in small baggies and leave it on your porch, oh yes I am!

But really...the guac is healthy as all get out! It's the chips that aren't. I'm going to experiment with squash slices to see if I can find a good dipping alternative.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it...unlike my lifestyle change.

I love dips. Guac, salsa, chipdip, cheese dips, hummus. You got a dip? I am THERE!

Depending on your lifestyle change, there are some no-carb options for "dippers".

The "biscuit slices" of country ham. I pan fry them so they crisp up. If they are too salty, my mother's trick of boiling the ham before you fry it does draw out a good deal of the salt.

Same with thick sliced bacon. Bacon, of course, should be on the food pyramid as its own food group, IMHO.

There are these "sandwich thins" that are kinda like a pita/english muffin combined. Toast them and then cut into tiny triangles. Especially tasty with hummus.

For the record, the last two days have SUCKED for me. I've had a cold and been starving!! I am certain that bacon/spinach/feta pizza isn't on the "feed a cold, starve a pizza" list. (But it should be - I could taste it!)

Here's to sticking with what we know to be better for us and not beating ourselves up for having a not so good day (or two, or three)!

Today is a brand new day, and I know that we can all do it!

Oprah had some cooking lady on (no idea, but I digress...) for the Super Bowl and suggested using fingerling potatoes, bake them, take them out, scoop out the middle, put a sheen of teriaki sauce on them to help them crisp up, stick them back in and when they are done, use them for your 'chips'. They're thicker, so they help you to feel full faster and are healthier than chips with all the middle out of them.

I am a white corn baked chip girl and a serving is STILL a whole 140-150 calories, depending on brand.

Thin & Crispy BBQ Chicken Pizza Snack Wedges

See Nutritional Values

DESCRIPTION
Yes! You can have pizza even when eating healthy. And you don’t have to feel guilty about it. I always serve this pizza at my Super Bowl parties and when I invite my girlfriends over for TV nights. My friends always rave and swear there’s no way its low in fat. This recipe is particularly great for kids, too!

INGREDIENTS

1 whole wheat flour, 96% fat-free tortilla (8" diameter)

2 tablespoons barbecue sauce

1/2 cup (2 ounces) finely-shredded, Cabot® 75% Light Cheddar cheese

2/3 cup (3 ounces) chopped grilled chicken breast

1/4 cup slivered red onion

1/2 tablespoon chopped fresh cilantro leaves

Preheat the oven to 400°F.

Place the tortilla on a small nonstick baking sheet. Bake for 3 to 4 minutes per side, or until crisp. If air bubbles form, poke them with a fork, then press out the air with a spatula or oven mitt. Remove the sheet from the oven.

Top the tortilla evenly in layers with the sauce, cheese, chicken, onion, and cilantro. Bake for 2 to 4 minutes, or until the cheese is completely melted. Slice into 8 wedges. Serve immediately.

Ohhhhh....that's harsh. But I must say....damn those chips! I could have just buried my whole face in that bowl!
