What name do you go by? Parents call me Bobbie. Always hated it. Only really old friends still use it. Real name only known to a few in RL and online.
How old are you? Older than most of you *sigh* Where were you born? Perth Amboy, NJ What is your greatest fear? Growing old (er) alone What is your earliest memory? Mother dragging me home after finding me in the back seat of a junked 1940's car @ age 8 or 9 with my pants off with another little girl. (Hers off too). Should have known then the direction my life would take. What is your most embarrassing moment? I get embarrassed easily, even feel embarrassed for people I don't even know. Could not name just one thing. What would your super power be? To be invisible. What would your fancy dress costume of choice be? Scarlett O'Hara in her fancy green dress made from drapes. Who would play you in the film of your life? Meryl Streep or Glenn Close. What is your most unappealing habit? Abandonment issues... What is your favourite book? Gone with the Wind. First read it at age 10. What does love feel like? Manic highs interspersed with depressive lows. Should feel like peaceful contentment. What's the worst job you've ever done? Combing out teased hair as a 16-year old shampoo girl in a beauty shop in Maryland. Then, having to wash it. Yuck. What has been your biggest disappointment? I have had many. Can't pick just one. When did you last cry and why? Last night, for the last time, as I closed another chapter in the book of my life. Fini. What is the closest you've come to death? Surgeon almost killed me, March 8th, 2012. Still dealing with the aftermath. How would you like to be remembered? As someone kind, compassionate and nuturing. What is the most important lesson life has taught you? Pick yourself up, dust yourself off, square those shoulders, dry those tears, blow that nose and keep moving ahead. __________________

![]() [ Responsibility to yourself means refusing to let others do your thinking, talking, and naming for you...it means that you do not treat your body as a commodity with which to purchase superficial intimacy or economic security; for our bodies to be treated as objects, our minds are in mortal danger. It means insisting that those to whom you give your friendship and love are able to respect your mind. It means being able to say, with Charlotte Bronte's Jane Eyre: "I have an inward treasure born with me, which can keep me alive if all the extraneous delights should be withheld or offered only at a price I cannot afford to give. Responsibility to yourself means that you don't fall for shallow and easy solutions--predigested books and ideas...marrying early as an escape from real decisions, getting pregnant as an evasion of already existing problems. It means that you refuse to sell your talents and aspirations short...and this, in turn, means resisting the forces in society which say that women should be nice, play safe, have low professional expectations, drown in love and forget about work, live through others, and stay in the places assigned to us. It means that we insist on a life of meaningful work, insist that work be as meaningful as love and friendship in our lives. It means, therefore, the courage to be "different"...The difference between a life lived actively, and a life of passive drifting and dispersal of energies, is an immense difference. Once we begin to feel committed to our lives, responsible to ourselves, we can never again be satisfied with the old, passive way." Adrienne Rich |
