I used Elements for quite some time, and it worked for my needs. I did however break down and purchase Photoshop CS6 Extended, simply because I find it easier to use (for me). I'm also a big fan of the Nik software. I run Viveza 2, HDR Efex Pro 2, and Color Efex Pro 4.
I guess being a Leo I have a flare for the dramatic, therefore there is no such thing to me as "too much" on my edits...lol I tend to go for overly enhanced, dramatic, whimsical, color crazed edits. I reserve "natural" for more of the baby and toddler shoots. Even my wedding shots are a bit dramatic. Apparently it works though, because I have more bookings at this point than I would have imagined. ![]() The biggest problem for me now, is feeling slightly out of place. I've been shooting mostly people these days. Anyone who knows me knows that nature is my passion when shooting. You can tell by my people shots that my heart isn't as into it, even though I still love it. I miss my birds, my furries, my creepy-crawlies. I have GOT to figure out a way to make enough income shooting primarily nature. So far, not much luck. Just the odd print here and there. I just don't really know how to go about approaching the right areas for that specific clientele. (Whether it be magazines, certain stock sites, even post cards, at this point.) I am, however, super excited that these two are being sold to a local physician for her office, as very large metal prints. She fell in love with them. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

lol it's ok i appreciate your help! Bigger is good so i can see them!
i simply cannot justify the cost of PS and the learning curve is way too intimidating for me. i'm pretty techy but for my photography i want to keep as much of it as basic as possible. i do love some of the effects i've seen and i have no idea how to get those. i feel when it comes to editing, go small or go big. i love the dramatic effect but for me, i want to keep it as much like what i visualized when i took the shot as possible. i like digital art, and it is an art. Dixie, i host my pictures on Fine Art America. It's 30 bucks (i think) per year. It's a great place to host stock photos and display your work. Not sure if you've ever heard of it. i've sold a few things from there, definitely enough to pay for the hosting. i was on SmugMug but i found it too expensive and the members were a bit caustic for my taste. if i could make money at nature shots, i'd probably stay there forever. The truth is sunsets are a dime a dozen. The trick is to get something different and that stands out. i want to make money at this and feel i have to move on to making that happen. |
