Definitely hereditary for me! Both of my parents have them. It's kind of a family trait. Mom had surgery on hers in the early 80s. Spent many months with big pins sticking out of her foot. Now I hear the surgery has evolved and is way less invasive.
Heels certainly exasperate the situation. (Most shoes do for me) But, I'll wear them anyway. They are my femme feet, bunions and all!
