things that made me smile today
spending time with the family this evening seeing my younger brother tonight at concert in the park was a great surprise i think my youngest is starting to let go of someone that was once very important in her life, she was very light hearted today.  half the topping off of mushroom and cheez pizza for dinner was a nice change as i usually have a half of a scrambled egg being invited to go swimming up on highway 70 the wee lil baby deer that loves to zoom around my backyard like a crazy thing its so stinkin cute makes me squee every time! anyone have any ideas what kind of snacks i can toss out in my yard for them? besides plants  old episodes of monster garage! |

Visiting with a retired co-worker. Talking about berries and grapes and gardening. Had a really great visit! Also test drove some of his homemade blueberry wine. Now that was the bomb!

first thing this morning
I rolled over and chihuahua made his way under the covers. Generally I'm not a huge fan of this because his fur makes my skin itch, but I'm dog sitting and he misses his mom, and I'm a big softy.
Anyway, Kitty decided to attack the moving lump under the blanket. Wap wap wap! Jump back. Wap wap wap! Jump back. I'm not a morning person, but it's got to be a great day when I'm laughing before I even get out of bed!

Last weekend, the children's home I've been tutoring at had one of their fund-raising dinners. Most of the kids from my study group and three kids from the other study group put on a play. A mash up of the Three Little Pigs and some other stories.
I was so tough on them! But, I promised I'd take them out for dinner afterwards. They were in agony trying to figure out where they were going. Last night we went to a Chinese restaurant at a hotel. There were 12 very very happy tummies. And lots of photos.They are fabulous kids.

a penny deal
New edger spool and cap on the Black & Decker Grasshog whizzzzed through the much neglected back yard.
The replacement cap was only a penny because, Homo Depot is discontinuing that model of cap. How will I feed my Grasshog if it breaks again..maybe I should go back to Homo Depot..

The single beautiful purple Morning Glory that was blooming this morning... Such a beautiful thing to see around such ugliness that is my apartment... the neighbors kids trash the walk way every day... I hate to even look at it... but this was beautiful to see this morning...

Two little boys (about 9 and 4 years old) came into the office today with their mom and the first family kitten. When I got in to see them the littlest guy watched his mother take the kitten out of her kennel and set her on the exam table. Right before I started the exam he said tapped me on the leg and in an anxious voice said, "I know you hafta give her a shot but you hafta use soft hands when you do it ok?" (His mom says they've all been doing some heavy coaching with him on the rules of animal handling.) He was the cutest.
Three shots and very little meowing later, I think I made it onto his trustworthy list. |
