A friend of mine is seriously considering attending clown school in Florida. This person is a very talented writer and performer, so I don't understand why she wants to take that route, but it is apparently something she needs to experience artistically...

I started thinking about why clowns freak me out. I thought, at first, that it had to do with how they have often been associated with serial killers and nefarious deeds in modern times, but it turns out that clowns/jesters have been tied to dark humor since the medieval age, like the fool in King Lear who walks around reminding everyone that they're not as smart as they think.

Clowns are just scary! Also, I read that in clown school the most important lesson is not how to be funny, but how to accept public humiliation. They basically break you down psychologically. I don't understand the appeal...

Our solar system is one crazy place zooming along, forget the one dimensional, flat images of the sun in the middle with the planets neatly circling around it. *Full disclosure, some scientists have debunked this "Helical model" but oh hell, the truth is probably in the middle somewhere. I have thought our universe to be in a constant state of chaos.





So many folks have no idea how fast our earth is spinning around the sun. 1,084 mph is a good estimate. We don't "feel it" because we and everything else is moving along at the same rate of speed. Watch out though if the Earth speeds up or slows down significantly! Hang on to that cup of coffee!

Banksy has revealed a new artwork, sprayed on a wall in the Calais refugee camp called “the Jungle”, intended to address negative attitudes towards the thousands of people living there.

The work depicts the late Steve Jobs, the founder of Apple, with a black bin bag thrown over one shoulder and an original Apple computer in his hand. The work is a pointed reference to Jobs’s background as the son of a Syrian migrant who went to America after the second world war.

South Africa's lion hunting industry to be hit by new U.S. protections which may reduce clients.

Sounds promising IF this is enforced. Trophy hunters (barf) usually are awash with unlimited funds for their "entertainment," so only time will tell. Canned hunts are atrocities against Mother Earths precious children.


South Africa's lion hunting industry faces new restrictions as a result of the decision this week by the U.S. government to protect African lions under the Endangered Species Act, according to conservationists.

Under the new provisions, American hunters bringing home lion trophies will need a permit, which will only be issued if the hunt is part of a science-based conservation strategy that enhances the species in the wild, the Fish and Wildlife Service said.

The new restrictions will discourage American hunters from sport hunting lions in South Africa, Humane Society International said in a statement. The organization said 620 of the 719 hunted lion trophies brought into the U.S. in 2014 came from South Africa. More than half of those were from lions bred in captivity, it said.

Trophy hunters pay between $18,000 and $24,000 to kill a five-year-old male. An eight-year-old male with an impressive mane may cost up to $75,000, according to hunting professionals.
