I received a crappy fridge calendar from our riding's Member of Parliament today. He's a bigot known for using thousands of tax dollars to send hateful and self-aggrandizing mailouts to every constituent with an address.
So I took the advice of a friend and made a craft out of it.  The text reads: Dear Mr. Vellacott, In 2013 please try to offer better Parliamentary representation to the following... Women... and those who love them and provide their care Queers... and those who love them and support their citizenhood All non-white, non-straight, non-male-IDed people Please do not exclude white, straight men, either. They also benefit from an inclusive, respectful society. Thx!

I was with a group of people today at work, eating a free lunch of turkey and all the usual thanksgiving fixings, and a woman I didn't know had her little boy with her.
He was four, at the very oldest, and really tiny and skinny. He was wearing the tiniest pair of jeans I've ever seen in my life and he had this long, homely, little old-man face. Oh my god, he was so cute. So I crouched down and started talking to him, and admiring the superheroes on his shirt: Spiderman, the Hulk, and others I didn't know. He became mesmerized by his own shirt, pulling it far out from his tummy and pointing to the characters' yellow faces, red feet. Then he mumbled something to me. I couldn't hear him, so I moved in a little closer and he mumbled it again. Finally I tapped my ear and said, Tell me a little louder, and he screwed up his little face and barked, Water! right in my ear, and of course I instantly began scrambling around for a plastic cup and some water for him, laughing the whole time. |

I cooked two boxes of Hamburger Helper Potato Stroganoff tonight ... Put five pounds of ground beef in it instead of two.
Prepared a couple of large bowls for my two dogs. They were eating ... happened to glance over at Kevin, my male bully-mastiff mix. He had a potato on top of his head. This boy eats quickly and laps hard.
