Far From Heaven. The script is rather over the top in 1950isms, but the movie addresses some important social issues - "homosexuality", racism, segregation, patriarchy, domestic abuse, conformity, etc. It's rather well acted for the most part, but I didn't think Dennis Quaid was very believable, or perhaps that's what most wealthy men in Connecticut in the 50's were like (reserved, and somewhat mechanical). Some scenes really brought out a lot of emotions. I think it's definitely worth seeing. Actors: Julianne Moore, Dennis Quaid, Dennis Haysbert, Patricia Clarkson, Viola Davis, etc.

Once Upon a Time in Queens Stars: Paul Sorvino, Michael Rapaport Chazz Palminteri
Recently released from prison, an ex-mafia boss tries not to fall into his old habits, but surviving outside of the mafia is harder than it seems. First be forewarned this movie moves S L O W but with that being said, I rather enjoyed it! It's more about relationships, past mistakes, and someone dealing with who they USED to be, than about mafia life

This film was out last week in the uk.
It stars tina fay and her buddy amy Poehler. Yes its mad cap, and silly, but its just great entertainment. You'll laugh at a lot of it, just because its that's stupid. If your wanting just a good old giggle, and a film that doesn't demand too much of you then go see it, you'll have fun. |

Spotlight
Spotlight (warning: triggers)
I really enjoyed it. It was well written and the story was easy to follow. Investigative journalism is the real star of this movie. All the actors were good, but I especially liked Stanley Tucci. He had a small but important role. I expect this move to garner some Oscar nominations and I look forward to seeing it again when it comes out on dvd. |

White Christmas
I think I have a new disciple to Edith Head's costume and design magnificence. My daughter now also loves her work, and we both swooned over the dresses. Of particular adoration: Rosemary's black velvet cocktail dress, the black gown with the cutout neckline, and of course the final scene red satin gowns with white fur trim.  Interestingly, we also had a poignant side conversation about anorexia thanks to Vera-Ellen. |

I streamed 3 A.M. and liked it.
Starring Danny Glover, Pam Greer, Michele Rodriquez, Sarita Choudhury. Got to see life from the POV of some cab drivers. Music was good with some interesting story lines. Nothing to write home about, but it wasn't a waste of time. Also saw Die Hard and that was good. Think I'm gonna see The Big Short tomorrow or Thursday... |

Saw Sisters with two of my besties.... kept thinking we shoulda smuggled in margaritas. It had funny moments, but would have been better if we'd been home watching it with a bunch of muchies and drinks. We were the loudest laughers in the theater...LOL
