This morning I had a good workout.
I hit up the elliptical first with my random program at level 5. Stats: 274 cal, 2.33 mi, 30:00 min Then I moved to circuit training and did my lower body training. While I was doing my back stretches, I saw a woman straddling the abduction machine backwards. I'd seen her before doing this and I decided to ask her about it today. A trainer taught her how to do it and when she moved off of that machine, I gave it a try. It's interesting. It's a combination of riding a horse and inline speed skating, depending on how low you go. The intimate benefits of this exercise were not lost on me either but that's neither here nor there. ![]() The point is that I learned something new today, so there. I also did some ab work and my usual stretches. I was there about an hour and a half today. |

How was everyone's "Soul Stroll"? I completed mine with my Monday workout.
Walking on treadmill, 22 minutes, varied speed, 1.0 incline. 1.02 miles, 169 calories. Upper Body workout. 2 sets, 10-12 reps. Enough weight to fatigue the muscles by rep 10. Arc Trainer. 20 minutes, P-4, L-5. 0.62 mi, 257 calories. Then finished off with stretching and ab work. Did anyone else download the playlist to go along with the "Soul Stroll"? At first I thought the affirmations were a little cheesy. But I got into it the more I went along. I thought it was a good start.

So today was the the day that I finally stopped procrastinating and joined a Planet Fitness. It is a brand new 24/7 facility and only 1.5 miles from my home, so not much room there for excuses! Lol! I spent 1 1/2 hours there today with the trainer, getting me set up with the machines, and an exercise routine for the next 4 weeks. I feel good about this.

I cleaned two houses for a total of 7.5 hours...today it counts!
and did the 20 min h.i.i.t. workout I posted previously. It's an arse kicker! I need to start doing more upper body since that workout is mostly lower...and my cleaning does do SOME upper body but...not with any consistancy or progressive challenges.

Didn't much feel like working out today. So I thought I'd keep it simple.
I came home after work and did the Day 3 5-min workout. Those workouts are pretty good for just 5 minutes. Then I rode my stationary bike for 15 minutes. I was aiming for 20-30, but the bike is terrible. I need a new in-home exercise equipment. I was thinking about the Bowflex TreadClimber, but I don't know if I want to spend that kind of money. Finished off with some basic ab work. It wasn't much, but something for today.

The second workout for that program was pretty cool and being only 5 minutes doesn't give much leverage for excuse. I haven't done the 3rd one yet. I'm getting up at o'dark thirty to workout and then I get to bring my car to the shop for most, if not all, of the day.

I had to bring my car to the shop first thing this morning so I was up around 4:30 and at the gym a little after 5am.
I hopped on my usual elliptical and this is what happened: 160 cal, 1.33 mi, 18:00 min Then I popped onto an Arc trainer and this is what happened: 27 cal, .13 mi and ??? Apparently, I plugged in a program that only ran for a couple of minutes and that was it. I knew something was up when the Cool Down command came on and I'd barely warmed up yet. Take two! 188 cal, .85 mi, 15:00 min I followed that up with some stretching. |

Good workout this morning despite a very short night. For some reason, I just wasn't tired last night. I finally made myself go to bed around 1am because my alarm was set for 6:45. I needed some sleep. Eventually I made it there!
My workout was hard for me, but given the sleep deprivation, it's understandable. E21, random program, level 5. Stats: 283 cal, 2.75 mi, 30:00 min I moved on to circuit training and worked my upper body for about half an hour. I did 3 sets of 10 reps with varying levels of weights. I started with my known max weight for that machine for the first 10 reps then I moved down to the next weight in the stack but placed a stackable weight on top and for the third set, I took the stackable weight off and continued at that weight under my max. My gym has stackable weights that are flat and funny looking but fit nicely on top of the normal stack. They range from 3-7 lbs, depending on how thick they are. The only machine I didn't do this on was the shoulder press. I have known issues with that machine so I only did 2 sets of 10 reps at low weight and paid close attention for anything that would signal a problem. Then I did a mini ab workout and I stretched for 15 minutes. All in all, was a little over an hour. |
