I think if I like something, it is something I like. Which does not mean it is art.
When I look at the Nike of Samothrace in the Louvre and I stay spellbound, transported beyond myself and beyond time, experiencing feelings of unity with the universe, and an ineffable joy, I am in the presence of art.
What is called art today rarely transports me beyond myself and beyond time. Some of it pleases me, some of it I like, some of it leaves me indifferent, some of it I despise. I will defend anyone's right to have a velvet Elvis on their mantelpiece, while surrounding myself with Japanese woodblock prints of the Edo period.

Love the tattoo! Ink is definitely art, even the bad ones.

For me, if it makes you stop a second and think, then it's art.

I don't have any of the art mentioned......I think I am Velvet Elvis deprived lol

I never thought of drying out my peeps and making a collage, next Easter that is first on my agenda.

I am a Dali fan - but alas I don't own any yet. Gimme time I will.

Art is art and it's in the eye of the beholder - so what I like might give someone shivers and vice versa, but as long as I like it....
