Don't go anywhere if you can help it and wear a mask if you can't.
Though you could stay home and watch sports on TV.

Strong recomendation to check out Stan's........
Stan's Donuts & Coffee 2800 N Clark St Chicago (b/t Broadway St & Orchard)
I believe the last time I was around this area, Jamba Juice was in this location. After a phone call earlier today, by someone raving about some edible they had just inhaled from here, I'm adding it to my "places to visit" after the pandemic dies down! |

Chicago holiday tradition Christkindlmarket has been canceled this year...
Bad news for anyone who was still holding out hopes of sipping spiced wine from a boot mug in Daley Plaza this winter: Christkindlmarket, the annual holiday market usually hosted downtown and in Wrigleyville, has officially been canceled. In place of the the in-person event, vendors that usually participate in the German-themed Christmas market will sell their products online beginning on November 1. ZooLights will still illuminate Lincoln Park this year......
ZooLights, the long--running and beloved annual holiday installation at Lincoln Park Zoo, will return this year—but for the first time in more than 20 years, you'll have to pay for a ticket to get in. Zoo reps cited financial straits due to the COVID-19 pandemic as the reason for the new ticket charge, which will be $5 per person for entry. "Unfortunately we are not in a position to staff and operate the extended hours with the limited capacity of visitors required based on state guidelines without some public investment," zoo director Megan Ross wrote in a press release. "We are charging a nominal admission in order to help us break even and still bring this beloved holiday tradition to the zoo." Each year, ZooLights brings millions of LED bulbs to the sprawling grounds of Lincoln Park Zoo for a twinkling after-hours display, plus other holiday-related events like carolers, Santa meet-and-greets and ice-carving demonstrations. This year's exhibit will open on November 20 and run through January 3. In addition to the regular ZooLights admission, guests will also be able to snag tickets for an adults-only night out (complete with mulled wine and hot chocolate) and A Charlie Brown Christmas tribute concert from the Chris White Trio. Tickets for ZooLights will go on sale for zoo members on September 24; they'll open to the general public on October 1. The zoo will also host five free nights (November 24 and December 9, 17, 21 and 29), which will still require an online reservation. |

Something different......
Want your rooftop bar vistas to come with a side of scares? You'll find both this Halloween at the IO Godfrey Rooftop Lounge, which is debuting a "haunted" version of its annual heated rooftop igloos for one spooky day on Saturday, October 31.
The domed igloos, which are heated and see-through to allow for unobstructed views, will be strewn with scary decor; elsewhere on the rooftop, you'll find a fire dancer and live DJ. Complete the haunted effect with seasonal snacks and plenty of Halloween-themed cocktails—like the bourbon, Grand Marnier, ginger liqueur and pumpkin spice-infused Smashing Pumpkin—and be sure to come in your best costume, because there'll be a prize giveaway for the best-dressed visitor. Visitors can make two-hour private igloo reservations for anytime between 11am to midnight on October 31 via Tock or by emailing info@iogodfrey.com. And don't worry if you can't manage to snag a spot—once Halloween's over, the igloos will get decked out in holiday decor and remain open through March 2021. |

If you are ever there
most of you will probably never be here and it is not that we don't have massive beauty in the ocean, forests, miles of wildflowers, mountains and rivers I just thought I would put this here as most of you have not heard of it.
https://youtu.be/kaoo6Ml1E9k This is the province I was born in Newfoundland Canada and an airport that was used as a place to touch down to refuel before heading home to the U.S. at Xmas. Very sad yet shows respect and dignity for another countries loss. Many Americans come to visit here every year and leave some token of their coming. There is no audio here as you may only speak silent prayers. |

FREE...tours & attractions, public art......
16th Street Murals 922 W. 16th St. Chicago
Pilsen is a neighborhood where art comes to life around every corner. Here bold murals have blossomed in the most unexpected places — on the fronts of homes, along railway overpasses, and wrapped around train platforms. The 16th Street railroad embankment in the neighborhood has become a canvas to experience some of Chicago’s and the world’s celebrated street artists. What started out as an organic movement to create murals along the embankment turned into the Art In Public Places Initiative led by a local organization. Since the initiative was started, about fifty new street art murals have been added to the two-mile embankment that runs along 16th Street from Halsted Street west to Western Avenue. Chicago street artists are represented well with names like Hebru Brantley, Sam Kirk, Chris Silva and Amuse. International artists include Rae, Roa, Gaia, The Yok, and Sheryo to name a few. Grab your camera and set off on a great street art exploration in the heart of Pilsen. |

This virtual food festival spotlights Black-owned restaurants throughout Chicago...
Blaktober, hosted by the folks behind Black People Eats, is offering restaurant deals, online events and more throughout October. The organizers behind Black People Eats, one of Chicago's most prominent Black-owned restaurant databases, have debuted a new virtual event aimed at celebrating Chicago's wonderfully diverse culinary scene.
Every weekend this month, Blaktober will feature dining deals from 76 Black-owned restaurants in the city, including fan-favorite spots like Brown Sugar Bakery, Mabe's Deli and 5 Loaves Eatery among many others, plus a free downloadable e-cookbook with recipes from Black chefs, virtual cooking demos and more. If you want to pump up the experience, you can also opt to buy tickets from the Blaktober Eventbrite page, which will net you VIP access to the cooking demos and other perks, like tickets to a virtual Afrobeats dance class. "This event means a lot to me. It's a way to celebrate Black restaurants all month long outside of February," Joyce says. "I realized that now most Black restaurants and businesses only really get highlighted in February and now Juneteenth. We wanted to do something that will leave an imprint on history by doing something in October. This means connecting people to Black restaurants all month long while increasing business and revenues for Black restaurants, which will help the Black community. https://www.blackpeopleeats.com/ |

Looking for something a little different while in Chicago?
Room 237 Morgan Manufacturing , River West/West Town.Until Sunday November 15 2020.
All work and no play makes Jack (and you) a dull boy—get away from it all for a bit with the help of this The Shining-themed popup, returning to Chicago in a spacious warehouse fit for the social distancing era. Developed by Morgan MFG operations director Amy Teri and Chicago DJ Heaven Malone, this multi-room experience takes guests through a miniature version of the Overlook Hotel, from a giant hedge maze to The Gold Room. Along the way, you'll spot familiar, photo op-friendly props like Jack Torrance's typewriter, the Redrum door and more. Each ticket comes with a complimentary drink, but if that's not enough to wet your whistle, sidle back up to the Gold Room for a drink from Lloyd the bartender; on the menu, you'll find creepy concoctions like the vermilion-colored Redrum made with ruby port, Brugal Anejo rum, pomegranate juice, honey syrup and rosewater mist. Strap on a mask and get ready for some eerie fun. |

Tamale lovers check out.......
Tamale Guy 2018 W Chicago Ave Chicago
Claudio Velez lovingly known as "The Tamale Guy" by locals, Velez used to sling corn-husk-wrapped handhelds from a red cooler at the city's best dive bars. Now he's got his own brick-and-mortar restaurant in West Town so that you can get your tamale fix day or night. Choose from fan-favorite fillings like pork, chicken or queso con rajas and toss in some merch while you're at it. If you close your eyes, you might just transport yourself back to a sticky dive bar at last call. www.tamaleguychicago.com |

Chicago COVID-19 restrictions for bars, business curfew take effect as coronavirus cases surge..
CHICAGO (WLS) -- Chicago non-essential businesses like bars, restaurants and liquor stores are actually getting extended hours under the new state-imposed COVID-19 mitigations that start Friday. The city first announced new restrictions last week to combat the COVID-19 surge seen here and across the state. Those restrictions included shuttering all indoor service at bars without food service, all liquor sales ending at 9 p.m. and all non-essential businesses closing from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.
However, under Governor JB Pritzker's mitigations, the city is extending those hours. While all bars and restaurants, regardless of food service, are not allowed to operate indoor dining, all non-essential businesses now must be closed from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. That allows restaurants and bars that can no longer offer that indoor service an extra hour of outdoor operations each evening. The city is also modifying its liquor curfew to allow on-site or to-go alcohol sales at bars and restaurants until 11 p.m. Some bar and restaurant owners have said they feel unfairly targeted by the city and state's COVID-19 mitigation efforts, and are demanding to see proof from the state that they're causing the surge in coronavirus cases we're seeing. |

For those who might be traveling to the Windy City...
Effective Friday, November 13, 2020, the Emergency Travel Order has been modified. Under the new system, states will be placed in three categories – red, orange and yellow – based on the status of the outbreak in the states and how the data compares to the situation in Chicago.
Updated as of 11/10/2020 In response to increased and high rates of COVID-19 transmission across the United States, and to add to Chicago’s efforts to contain the spread of COVID-19, the City is issuing a Travel Order applicable to anyone coming into the City of Chicago from designated states with a significant degree of community-wide spread of COVID-19. Anyone traveling from a state on the Orange list is directed to obtain a negative COVID-19 test result no more than 72 hours prior to arrival in Chicago or quarantine for a 14-day period (or the duration of their time in Chicago, whichever is shorter). Anyone traveling from a state on the Red list must quarantine for a 14-day period or the duration of their time in Chicago, whichever is shorter. https://www.chicago.gov/city/en/site...vel-order.html |

If you were planing travels to Chicago or Cook County....
Chicago, Cook County COVID-19 stay-home advisories..
The Chicago advisory says residents should “only leave home to go to work or school, or for essential needs such as seeking medical care, going to the grocery store or pharmacy, picking up food, or receiving deliveries.” Cook County notes leaving home for a COVID-19 test also is OK. Anyone leaving home is advised to “always wear a face covering." A statewide mask mandate also is in effect, requiring people to wear face coverings in public when they can’t maintain 6 feet of distance and in any building open to the public. In its order, Chicago emphasizes that city officials expect to be cracking down on businesses, including enforcing capacity limits at grocery stores and other retail stores and indoor dining and drinking. But the city also emphasized officials will be keeping an eye out and possibly issuing citations for at-home gatherings, places of worship, retail stores, salons and barber shops, theaters and health and fitness centers that violate current restrictions. https://www.chicagotribune.com/coron...rx4-story.html |
