When someone borrows something from you, and the item(s) are damaged when they are returned.

When a person says something or does something that is rude and inappropriate, then pretends like nothing ever happened and expects you to just be "okay" with it and let it go.

When someone says or does certain things just for the sake of trying to make others jealous or to get a rise out of people.

When someone drinks all my tea and doesn't tell me

I hate "text speak."

Certain things (like most the acronyms) do not bother me like:

LOL
OMG
BFF (when used by teenagers)
b/c for because
w/o for without
s/o, b/f, g/f, MtF, FtM, GQ or GF

But, I cannot stand it when educated people type "u" instead of "you" or "ur" instead of "your" or (the worst one) "ure" instead of "you are."

If you have some type of disability that makes it easier to shorten words, if you are bad at spelling or using a language that is not your first one, I have no problem with shorthand typing. However, if you are blessed with an education, please use it.

Cabinet doors that are left open. Turning on ALL the lights in the house. And the thermostat wars.... I'd keep it at 60 year round if I could. But I know I'm weird. So I'm okay with turning it up a bit. A bit is mid 70s in the early morning when first get up, and then 68-72 ish the rest of the day. It doesn't need to be 80 in here!

Oh, and running the a/c in the car when the windows are open. If the windows are down, the a/c needs to be off! Especially now that we live in a place with expensive gas.

Pet peeves...

going out with a group of friends for dinner or drinks and having the entire damn table be on their phones!

people that constantly pop gum

taking the last soda or beer out of a 12-pack box, and NOT throwing the box away

Folks who make sharp clicking noise when talking on the phone.

Please stop. It's very painful to ears on the other side. Thank you in advance.

I read the thread and tried to think of some pet peeves...

I realized that I couldn't live with 98% of y'all cuz life is too short to worry bout butter in my jelly lol I spoon it out and get to the unbuttered stuff.

I guess my number one pet peeve would be someone trying to turn me into them.....

I put things away, I pick up things, I cook, etc......If I'm not doing it the way someone likes......they are more than welcome to do it - and forever

The roomie and I have already crossed this bridge - I'm not her, she's not me and I'm a functioning adult and able to continue to do so without directions lol

She's rather ocd about the cupboards and I respect that and put things back the way she arranges - but if I forget cuz I'm tired after work and she's had all day to rearrange something I misplaced cuz she doesn't, then I guess I would peeve about her leaving it as is to show and *correct* me.

I don't need correction because I don't do something someone else's way. My daughter had her own butter to avoid the Kidlette and I getting crumbs in it. It was about compromise and that works for me rather than my letting things like that upset my life.

Speaking from my *me* space.......

i kinda feel the crumbs in the butter is just more than "crumbs in the butter".

kinda feels like it's just a tad disrespectful of the others who share the "butter." i am working on not taking things like this personal myself

i am home most days and do most of the housework and sure i have time to take out crumbs but that's kinda not the point on the receiving end.

but YES, life is so much bigger than crumbs in the butter.

And I totally respect your reasoning - which is why we chose to have two sets of butter dishes - cuz the 10 year old just didn't think about it as much as her Mom did and out of respect we thought it better to just let her have her own butter so that she would feel good about her needs being met.

I don't have many pet peeves but one of my big ones is using words that aren't actually words. Case in point: SUPPOSABLY. Also, people who email, write or text using u, ur, and similar shortcuts. FFS, the actual words are only three or four letters.

This is a HUGE pet peeve of mine....when I am on line at the grocery, or wherever, and the person in front of me is either on their cell or texting and totally ignoring the cashier who is speaking to them...there is NO excuse for a lack of common courtesy towards others!

My GF says to me the other day: "you are so much more mellow than you used to be".

Not really. I have a shitload of things that bug me. I just have learned to pick my battles better:

1. Loud people. Like in the movies or in a restaurant. STFU!

2. Parents that allow their kids to run and scream in restaurants. ( there is a whole thread somewhere here in BFP on "is it ok to take your kids to an expensive restaurant"? Uh, not if they are allowed to run and scream, no).

3. People that chew gum with their mouth open, snap their gum, blow bubbles and pop them! Not even talking about children, talking about adults. It is like nails on a chalkboard for me.

4. Radios with heavy metal on the beach: up really loud. Actually, I prefer the old days, when people went to the beach and just listened to the waves.

What a concept but I guess I have become my mother and am an old fart now.

5. I can't even get started about wind chimes.

Noise sensitivity: When I was 30, noise did not bother me nearly as much as it does now.

*Sigh*
