The Vintage Automobile Museum of NJ has now found a permanent home in Pt. Pleasant...which is just a few minutes from where I live!! Can't wait to go!

**sorry, I know this isn't about my personal car, or former cars...don't mean to derail the thread...I'm just really excited about it!**

No worries.....I'm glad you are excited. We have a car museum near (and I say near as a relative term) us that has a great inventory. If you are ever in northern Illinois and near Volo (my bet is that you'd have to be lost or specifically going to the museum) you should check it out.

No problem. I believe the OP (LaneyDoll), has no concerns about the thread staying "on track". Maybe I should make a general car thread? I have considered it before, but figured people wouldn't be interested enough in it. Will do it later.

Default Married to the Little Old Lady From Pasadena

From The Wolf Den -

Wolf; "You want to good news or the bad news?"
Andi; "Bad"
Wolf ; "You apparently are on a *fast-track to get a speeding ticket in every state of the nation. Congratulations."
Andi; "I didn't get a speeding ticket!"
Wolf; "According to the paradise vacation destination state of Iowa you did."
Andi; "I didn't get pulled over."
Wolf; "They didn't need to. They have a speeding camera and took a picture."
Andi; "Those bastards!"

*Andi (my wife) is a travelling nurse with a lead foot. This isn't the first speeding ticket she's gotten this way.

From the Wolf Den;

Andi; "Promise you won't be mad at me"
Wolf; "Now you know that depends on what you are about to tell me but I promise to try"
Andi; *Digs around in her purse and pulls out a piece of paper handing it over to me
Wolf; "Going to add Michigan to your list are you?"
Andi; "Yes, they got me doing 74 in a 70."

I'm thinking she either needs to fly or have a chauffeur or choose another occupation. She could lose her license.

However, you could use the tickets to make an interesting fabric design when her car needs to be re-upholstered.

Thanks Gemme. What she needs to do is take her foot off the gas a little. She does fly to any location over 5 hours travel time but when she gets to the locations that she does fly to she has a rental car. I believe that she has clocked tickets in Wyoming, Colorado, Iowa, and now Michigan.

My dad had a Galaxie 500 while we were growing up. He had it for many, many years, and for as long as I can remember, only used it to drive to his job that was 10 miles away. I remember the headliner being kept closed with staples!

I saw one for sale not too long ago and wished I had my camera (cell phone) with me to take a picture. I pressed my face against the glass and had this rush memories of me as a small child. It was almost like a flashback. I could feel what the inside handles felt like, the window lever, the seatbelt. Pretty damn wild.

I don't know what the original color of it was, but it was purple by the time I came along. Not sure of the year, but it looked a bit different from the above.

He got rid of it after the civic association of the neighborhood told him he had to remove it from the top of the driveway. He gave it to a friend at work he knew would love it.

Good memories.

This is not my Valiant, but one just like it (1968 Valiant Signet) It was my first car, and I called her Betsy the Blue Bomber. I loved that car. It saved my life more than once. I loved working on it, I could literally climb into the engine, there was that much room under the hood.

My 1972 Ford, Grabber Maverick was Bumble Bee Yellow and Black. It was an awesome car, I am not into Ford, but this one was one of my favorites. Nice heavy car.

Thanks, Wolfsong. Yes, I am very happy with it.

The only problem is the new back window. It zips in and there is a two inch gap of where it isn't closed all the way. How the guy missed that, I don't know. He has the clip that closes the zipper. I didn't think to get it back from him because there would be no reason to.

So, I guess I will have to take some time off work to drive up there to get that fixed. It will only take a minute to do, but the hour drive makes it all very frustrating. Of course, he isn't responding to my emails, but that is status quo with him.

But, yes, the frustration of dealing with him and the wait is worth it for the car to look exactly the way I wanted and to know that it was set up safely (I have spacers added). He has a great reputation and part of what he does is build race cars, so you know he knows safety.

Thanks for asking.

Oh man don't get me started on the vert. I've got a couple of issues going there. The top needs to be replaced ($1500-2000) and the rear passenger window, that little quarter, has a broken cable. In other cars it does not matter, but the little shit that engineered this thing has made it so the entire regulator needs to be replaced ($600-$800). The motor for the top is weak and needs to be replaced (another $1500). Perhaps the most annoying and least expensive is the hydraulic arm that hold the trunk cover up. The slightest breeze and down it comes. It has caught me in the head about 3 times now and Andi once in the shoulder. They have the arms over at Auto Zone for about $20 each. I don't have a good excuse, I just haven't had time. I work 2 full time jobs now you know? I'm tired when I get home.

That sounds quite annoying. I am very lucky that my top hasn't had to be replaced yet, even though it is the original top (10 years old). I am not looking forward to the few thousand dollars for a new one in the future. The aftermarkets are fine, but the windows are sewn in, so if you need a new window, you're screwed.

I can put my top back manually (if needed), and with it being a small car I can do it right from my seat. Is manual even an option for you?
