Communing with Nature
It was a 6am start this morning as I left for work still half asleep. I decided to walk along the beachfront which was eerily and uncharacteristically quiet due to the time of day, until I heard the birds singing, the sight of waves gently creeping to the shore, the caressing sea breeze cooling me from the morning sun and that smell of summer in the air, all of which never fails to bring a smile to my face.

I almost forgot the smile from Church today.
 In our Church they ask people to come up and announce good news, or ask for traveling prayers...etc. So my wife and i went to the front and announced that this past Thursday was our 6 year wedding anniversary, and that this year we have been together 12 years. Lots of clapping followed, but what caused my smile was one of the older women coming up to me afterwards and telling me that she and HER partner have been together 31 years, and hasn't the world changed? |

This made me smile when I opened my eyes this morning:
Kevin, my very large dog, and I had somehow huddled together under the comforter during the night. You see, I bought a 12, 000 B.T.U. a.c. window unit this past weekend. I have central air conditioning but for it to get as cold in my bedroom as I require in the summer, my power bill goes upward of $300.00. The same size B.T.U. unit I had was not doing the job anymore. Kevin is very pleased with the unit. Me too! The old one was as much of a bear to remove as it was to install years back. One heavy, bulky mother. And I finally had a good grip on it, taking careful but progressive steps and it started slowly sliding out of its casing. That is when I remembered that peculiar thing about it and was wishing my steel toe boots were on my feet. At one point, I had about decided to fling it forward and jump back from under it but then realized it probably only needed servicing. Make matters worse, my plaid shorts had started falling. By the time the unit landed on one Keen sneaker, my toes had managed to draw up in a protective posture and weren't injured but my shorts were on the ground. LOL! Stuff happens.
