and then and then

Well okay so this fox is not always the smartest fox by the hen house.

I know I get going on something and I think "oh hell I got this covered" and then two weigh ins go by and I am not moving much, if at all. And then

maybe I should go back to square 1.

So back to tracking it is....

I did not move this week. Which is a good thing considering the lack of protein and the bite size wonderfully salty (and fatty) taco chips... oh and then the soy cheese on them... and thinking I could get by...

yeah not so much...

so here I am AGAIN and you are all my witnesses to my decree to TRACK AGAIN...

Bear with me... I will get past the shadow of "reluctant change" and past the shadow of "I am smarter than my fat" and into the light of "I have changed now lets reflect that change"...

I like that..."I am smarter than my fat". That must be my problem.

I have smart fat.

Most definitely! Stress creates an increase in cortisol, which makes flab stick to one's middle extra tight. It also affects bone density.

Amen to this....not to mention that stress makes it harder to eat right as well.

It's official weigh in day...and I didn't lose any, but I didn't gain any either. Considering the week I've had, I'll take it!

Walked for an hour on the beach today...gorgeous, and worked up a little sweat too.

Hugs to you all.

I was sick with my sinuses and the meds threw me off track , so what did I do? I friggin had toast alot ... so I gained 3 lbs back ..really nutri system? When they say you have to change your way of eating forever and it's a life style change ... they sure mean it. Well, I'm back on track and we shall by the weekend if I can stay off the scale that long . I have a crush on my scale .... really Kat? C'mon now !

Well, it's back to OA meetings for me. I just cannot deal with trigger foods without working the program. Not about to allow myself to gain back what I have kept off for such a long time. Prevention is the key- to stop any compulsive eating before it takes hold.

I have been avoiding getting back to my local meetings due to a personal conflict with a renter I had to kick out that utilized OA, but, it's my program too. My health, my body and OA is simply what works for me in staying at a healthy weight. We will both just have to deal with it.

Stuck with the salmon, took a pass on the Carnitas-yeah! Actually I was too lazy to drive to King Taco but whatever the reason, the craving passed.

Trip to store today, tomatoes, lettuce, pears, peaches, Kashi wheat cereal, salsa-love it as salad dressing-chicken breasts, nonfat milk, etc. Still zip sweets, bread, butter.

So much easier now. Back in the second nature groove again. Such freedom.

This reminds me of one of my friend's entire diet plan.

Sleep more.

Since sleep has an impact on one's level of cortisol, she figured if she slept more at night she could lose weight.

And she was actually semi-serious about it being a diet plan for her. She really did start going to bed earlier.

Actually Dapper, there have been studies that have shown that people who do get enough regular sleep do better with their weight than those that do not.

Fascinating.

Hi, Anya.

Oh, yes, I know (not enough sleep increases ones cortisol level). What made me smile was that it was her ENTIRE diet plan.

I am not sure if she thought that would be enough to lose weight or not. She can be dry with her humor, but like I said, she did start going to bed, earlier. I need to catch up with her to see if it helped!

Good Evening Everyone,

I had a blast at my niece's 5th birthday party. I had a small slice of birthday cake and one chicken finger and a few fries. The pizza wasn't what I was craving since I didn't get a chance to eat lunch. If I get hungry tonight, I will make a sandwich and have no sides with it.

I have found, that if I don't get enough sleep, my body starts craving sweets in general. I have to kick my ass into gear and loose some weight before January. My middle brother is getting married and I don't want to attend the wedding being my size. So it will be no sweets<unless mother nature kicks in> and more water...

Have a good night,

Zimmy

Yes, yes! Part...a small part, but a part nonetheless...of my issue is fractured sleep. As I've aged, I've become a lighter sleeper. A light sleeper who is partnered with a sound sleeper who has sleep apnea and snores terribly.

I am one of 'those' people who need every single second of sleep and when I am shortchanged, it's not a pretty sight. I'm irritable and am less productive and not as good of a manager because my coping skills are just not as efficient when I'm tired. I also tend to eat more, to stay awake. Being partnered with military folk and working graveyards for a long time taught me that, if you're tired and can't sleep, eat.

So, I eat more during the day for the usual reasons: boredom, stress and now, to keep myself awake for the hours that I should be awake.

We've gotten into the pattern of me going to bed anywhere from 1-3 hours before Ebon so that I have a chance to get into REM and maybe not wake up when he comes to bed and starts snoring. He does have a CPAP machine and it has made a tremendous difference, but his snoring is just that bad that it's still bothersome for me, even with the mask on.

Last week, I had an auction and needed to be at work early. Auction days tend to run in the double digits for time spent on the clock, so they are draining on a good day. I went to bed earlier than usual, around 9:30ish, and was sleeping well until 12:32am, when Ebon was in bed and started his chainsaw impression. I waited and I tossed and I turned and hoped and prayed and tried to get to sleep. Around 4am-ish, I was successful. My alarm went off at 5:30am. Not good.

I've also had a big problem with motivation. I had it last year, but then I'd moved down here to TX and didn't have to worry about a lot of things. Ebon made enough to cover the bills and my job was playing house, looking for work and working out. I did those things, and pretty well, I might add. I dropped about 25 pounds when I finally was hired. The workouts stopped then as my commute was long and tiring and I worked a lot outside in the cold, and then in the hot of summer, and my motivation slid farther and farther away as the pounds crept up. I'm now heavier than when I first moved down here.

So, I decided to take a more passive approach, since I'm tired of being tired and listening to all of the negative crap in my head. If I can't or won't kick my own ass and get into the gym, then I'll try something I did a few years back and it worked. Hopefully, it will work now.

I picked up some supplements and will give myself two months to see what they can do on their own. If I find motivation along the way, all the better. If I don't, then I'll have to try something else when my supply runs out. I may have to break down and hire a trainer for a few times a month. That's not a cost I'm ready to incur just yet though.

I did find that an added benefit to one of the supplements is that it's supposed to help you sleep a little more soundly.

Oh, praise be!

Sooooo.....it's not the way I'd prefer myself to go or something that I would actively recommend...at least, not at this point...but it's what I've decided to do. As a grown (but lazy) ass woman, it's my right.

I'll let you all know how it goes.

If interested, this is what I am trying:

Hey, Gemme. I wish you luck with this.

I am assuming what helps with sleep is the melatonin. If it doesn't help as much as you need, you can always get a bottle of the supplement at a pharmacy, vitamin shop, or probably even grocery store. Look for one that is extended release, so that it will keep you sleeping the whole night through.

One thing I am taking for sleep is called Tart Cherry. It is a concentrate and you take a tablespoon or two a night. It also has melatonin in it.

Sleep has been a prob with me for years,my son is almost as bad so there may be some genetic thing about thet loss of sleep issue. If im working a regular day kind of job I often dont get 8 hours of sleep nomater when I go to bed.If left to my own time scedual I will fall into being up till about 1am or so then sleeping till 9 or 10am..even then its not straight thure.I have always been a bit hyper so my mind and body just dosent relax to sleep, what had worked for me is takeing a flexeril 5mg and them a tramadole 50mg so in about an hour im geting sleepy then will go to bed.I must admit there are to many times I dont sleep at all no mater what I do,on those times I just get up then go finds something to do.Often I end up at the pool hall or a gay bar on the river frount that stays open to 5am.I have washed my car, gone bowling came home showered then gone to work, did my 8 hours..I was sleepy but couldnt say that way long.

Ah sleep. The only way I get 6-7 hours is to go to bed early. Pathetically early some nights. I wake up anywhere from 3AM to 4:30. I never set an alarm clock for work. It would be a miracle if I ever overslept. It has gotten worse as I have gotten older.

My ex used to snore. When I was in my 20's, I slept like a rock. Never heard it. As the years went by, either she got worse or I slept more lightly. Even with earplugs, could hear her. I finally would get up in the middle of the night and would go sleep in the guest room. She hated that but hell, I had to sleep.

Sleep critical for both my mental health and weight loss/maintenance.

Gemme, have you tried ear plugs? The soft foam kind? They do help. Rockin, just type Overeaters Anonymous in your search engine. It should also give you a list of meetings in your area.

In eating, sleeping health and with hugs to all,

Good Morning Rocking,

Here is a link to the OA meetings in your area. I am going to see if they have any in my area and I am going to check one out. The good thing about this program, is that there are no membership dues; which helps me since I cannot afford Weight Watchers. They do have meetings in my area and I will find one that I can attend!!!! Thank you AtLast for mentioning this!

Have a great day,

Zimmy

I have and they don't work. Either they come out during the night or the volume is just too loud or, one time, they did work and I didn't hear my alarm.

Oooopsie.

There are solutions that I could do (there's a headband kind of radio thing that would work as I could turn up the volume to compensate for Ebon's louder nights, but then I'd eventually go deaf I'm afraid) but I have to be able to hear my alarm and I always get up before Ebon and he doesn't hear my alarm, so that's not fair to put that on him.
