Wish I Was Here
A bit late to the party on this, but glad I went. Poignant little film that could. I would recommend. Time worthy. One scene, in particular, very rich dialogue. The Judge Not an uplifting film in the sense that it has a lot of sadness about life and loss. Wait, that is part of life, right? Terrific performance by Robert Duvall. Parts, imho, needed to be edited out. Overall, I liked it. Wait for on-demand or an inexpensive matinee. |

I just finished A Merry Friggin Christmas with Robin Williams. It is one of the last four movies he worked on before his death.
It's not what I would call a 'good' movie. I watched it because Robin was in it and I really miss the guy. They included a memorial note at the end. The movie was hard to watch because it dealt with some family issues I've had experience with. I liked the ending better than the beginning. |

Well, I couldn't get that movie to play sooo
I watched Lone Survivor with Mark Wahlberg. The title is a spoiler...but the movie is amazing. I happen to be a girl who likes war movies though. It's based on a true story about a U.S. military mission in Afghanistan that went awry.

I raided Redbox today and came away with 3 movies. I've seen 2 of them thus far.
Live. Die. Repeat. aka a repackaged Edge of Tomorrow. It was actually good, despite Tom being in it. Emily Blunt is gutsy. I like her! Happy Christmas. I. hate. it. I like Anna and Melanie but this is horrible. Just horrible. Good thing I was answering emails and playing online so the time wasn't totally a waste. |

This HBO Films drama tells the dramatic, poignant and often-exasperating story of the early days of the HIV-AIDS crisis in New York City in the early 1980s, taking an unflinching look at the nation's sexual politics as gay activists and their allies in the medical community fight to expose the truth about the burgeoning epidemic to a city and nation in denial. This film boasts an all-star cast, including Oscar nominee Mark Ruffalo, Oscar winner Julia Roberts, Matt Bomer, Taylor Kitsch, Alfred Molina and three time Emmy winner Jim Parsons. "The Normal Heart" is directed by Emmy winner Ryan Murphy and written by Oscar nominee Larry Kramer, adapting his groundbreaking, Tony Award-winning play of the same name.
---------------- I liked "And The Band Played On" better. The hardest thing for me was Jim Parsons in a serious dramatic role. Sheldon Cooper was always in the back of my mind, which was distracting. |

Another Redbox raid today!
First, there was Earth to Echo. It was charming and reminiscent of ET, as expected. Nice CG. Then I needed some humor so I put on The Fluffy Movie. Gabriel Iglesias is da bomb! I was, however, surprised that I wound up tearing more at his movie than Earth to Echo. I watched the extended version and it was amazing. Love Fluffy! |

I watched All is Lost with Robert Redford. It was as if somebody challenged him to make a movie with less dialogue than castaway

Mockingjay, Part 1
This was the first movie in the series that I actually saw in the theatre. The other two were courtesy of Netflix and Redbox. I did enjoy it quite a bit more when it's several feet wide and tall. |

Choices this week were THE MAZE RUNNER which reminded me a lot of The Lord of the Flies book. Maybe I am too old to watch a bunch of teenage boys being intense and fighting amongst themselves. I would say to wait until you can rent it.
Second movie was THE EQUALIZER. Denzel Washington did a superb job, and I was glad I chose this one. When I scream, jump in my seat, and grab the leg of the person next to me, it is a good movie I think. lol |
