I planted peppermint stick zinnias in my pots on my front steps. They are now starting to bloom and as each one opens, I am amazed at mother nature and human accomplishments. Each one is a different color, but they have red stripes on each petal. You have to see them up close to appreciate their beauty and I am so glad I put them on the front porch where visitors get to see them.

The 7yr old kid across the street has a broken arm. He was sitting on the front porch watching his brother and friends play in the sprinkler, looking really bummed. I asked him if her knew how to play marbles. (of course he didn't. It's 2010 and he's 7. lol.)
What made me smile was, after I showed him how to play we played for a little more than an hour. He was really diggin it. When he was leaving, he asked if we could play again tomorrow.

the heavy rain that is now pouring late at night.....the soil has so needed it. I can water my garden for a long time but kick the dirt and you find dry soil. This is good...very good...for the garden...
