 Something, Anything i'm so picky that when i watch i'm always afraid the movie will be too similar to the rest out there. But i thought this movie & what it stands for was amazing. The ending is especially what got me. Definitely a breath of fresh air & way better than i even expected. A new favorite.

This past weekend I watched Dallas Buyer's Club - excellent movie. Matthew did a great job in working his character. Just affirms what most of us already know in regards to insurance companies and pharmas. Glove and hand.
Then I watched The Fault in our Stars - I was so afraid this was going to be a "chick" flick. (not that there is anything wrong with them) .gif "Say What?") Which I guess to a certain extent it was. However, the premise of the movie was so touching - and the actors so good - that it never felt like that that glossy-cotton candy type movie. I am glad I decided to watch it. The soundtrack to it was wonderful as well.

Last night we caught Ride on Demand. Hunt as a helicopter mother of a 19 year old. It may not be for everyone, it's one of those comedies that then takes a more serious tone. The actor who plays her driver has some pretty good scenes as well. If you're a fan of Helen Hunt and Luke Wilson, check it and see what you think

Loved it! Wild, entertaining, exciting and had an almost steampunk vibe (to me):
Mad Max! 98% critics rating on Rotten Tomato's when I checked last night. I should also say that I just love action movies. The girlfriend does not, so she wasn't crazy about it but we take turns seeing flicks the other wants to see.

I saw Pitch Perfect 2 today. It was good. One of my favorite parts of the trailers was not in the movie so that was unexpected. Actually there were two parts in the trailer that are not in the movie.
I liked it though. |

Last night we watched The Seven Five, a documentary about the dirtiest cop in NYC history. Michael Dowd! He stole money and dealt drugs while patrolling the streets of 80s Brooklyn. I enjoyed it but may not be for everyone!

The Hobbit - An Unexpected Journey
The Hobbit - The Desolation of Smaug You can never go wrong with a Hobbit movie. Going to order The Battle of the Five Armies next. Then today I watched The Prize Winner of Defiance Ohio. First, I am a huge Julianne Moore fan and she did not disappoint in this. Again I thought "chick flick" .. again NOT that there is anything wrong with them..  ..however, as it turned out - it was such a touching story (and based on a true story)..I may have had to dab my eyes with some Kleenex. (do not judge me). I highly recommend the movie.

It gives you perspective to know that the vehicle chase scenes in the movie took more than half of the total time put into the film. Several months and it showed. Thrilling action flick! I do have to say one thing though....if I were in the war party and I had to listen to that guy play the guitar for the hours and hours they must have been driving, I would have shot someone in the face. This was quality in all aspects. The story was well put together, the acting was good and it was interesting and even though it involved something not entirely realistic, everything else was as I expected if such an event did occur. I won't elaborate to conserve the integrity of the story but it was very, very good. |

Winnie Mandela : "South Africa's Winnie Mandela, one of the most galvanizing public figures in modern history, comes to life in this absorbing biopic." with Jennifer Hudson and Terrence Howard
This moving was indeed interesting to watch. However, I am not convinced it depicts the depths of the true story. I knew some of this story prior to watching it and continued on with additional research about the Mandela families fight. There is much more to the story than this (as in any movie)...I am not sure how I feel about her yet. While I researched her story I found myself on an emotional roller coaster of admiration, disappointment, disgust in a never ending ride of all spectrums of each emotion. War can cause a man or women to do things that they would have never thought to do...sometimes they loose themselves all together. |
