I wear givenchy gentleman which is an old fragrance from the 80's that you can still buy and sometimes I like Polo crest. I only wear cologne when going out somewhere special.
I love the smell of: new mown grass gasoline at the pump sawmills (like those in the PNW) campfires bacon cooking Rainbath by nutragena rain in the air when a storm comes up patchouli candles very old books printing ink lemons the way my grandma's kitchen used to smell

Perfect thread for me. I am extremely scent aware and as such sometimes, scent driven. It is not always a great thing though. I work in a scent free building, with that being said I have become more aware of smells, some set me off and I had no idea that in the past, when at a social fucntion, my headaches wheren't from hanging out to late but from the smells. Like many of you have said, If we can smell you when you come in the door, you may have to much on. Please dont get near me if you have lavendar on any part of your person, I dislike not being able to breath. Thanks
There are people who are sensitive to scents, and will become quite sickened, when they come into contact with your perfumes and fragrances. Please be considerate to anyone you know who is sensitive to certain smells when you are planning to spend time with them or are going to be in close proximity of them. Do not wear any colognes, musks, scented body lotions, hair products, etc. that are bothersome to them during these occasions. Smells Invade Personal Air Space Also, if you are going to be in any public places where you will be around people who you do not know please consider the possibility that such chemical scents emitting from your body may offend someone's sensitivities. Certain scents can bring about allergic reactions, asthma attacks, trigger migraines and headaches, or nausea in people who have multiple chemical sensitivity. The inhalation of some chemical fumes from scented products, including air fresheners, can be just as problematic for some people as secondhand smoke, if not more harmful. Places to Avoid Wearing Colognes and Perfumes

I like clean and clear smells... I used to love musky type.. Obsession, Chanel, but when you have to step outside to spray yourself and stand out there for a few mins not to trigger a headache, you sort of give up...

I have a super sensitive nose so this is a great thread for me
Love: *the smell of a rain storm on the horizon...especially since i live in the desert! *creosote *Ralph Lauren's "Black" *My kiddos hair (love to bury my nose in it!) *fresh herbs like oregano, thyme and rosemary that leave their scent on your finger tips *mesquite wood burning in the fireplace *morning dew *bacon cooking on the stove *fresh roasted coffee beans *pumpkin spice lattes Loathe: *most perfume...especially walking through a department store with 5,000 of them *cigarettes *bad breath *unclean people (not so much body odor, but that "weeks without a shower smell"...it mostly makes me feel sad for them) *air fresheners (chemically scented ones) |

I'm another one that can't handle patchouli...it smells oily and dirty to me, and gives me an instant headache.
I like clean, fresh scents...and not too much of any perfume or cologne. If it smells like you bathed in it, then it's headache-making for me. Generally I prefer the smell of good ol' soap and shampoo.

I actually get complimented when I where patchouli. It suits me. However, it's pretty hard to find now, so I have not worn it in some time.
I wear White Musk and Vanilla from Body Shop. I sometimes use pure essential oils as well. A strong perfume can bring on an instant headache, but a subtle cologne is very enticing. "Death Breath" and "Booze Breath" are buzz kills for sure. |

My gramps wore old spice, but only in moderation. My gram use to wear lemon verbena very lightly,I was told at a very early age that sents should be light and free.
A fue years ago when my mom still managed the mens department at Dillards she brought home a huge bag of samples of arimist, stetson and something called sexual home. All were really good but the sexual home was great..a touch is all I ever needed as I went into a room or hang out..yes they noticed it.I have long sence used them up and I cant find any sexual home anywhere..I have looked. The other things I prefer are things that have a natural woodsy or light pinye smell or of the sea, some floral sents are ok but just a touch is more than enough. |

Smells that make you go hmmmmm
I'll come back when I'm not half asleep (should have gone to bed ages ago), but a cologne I bought for my ex yonks ago is HABIT ROUGE by Guerlain (1965). Oh my giddy aunty, every time she wore it I couldn't decide which I wanted to do first - rip off her clothes or mine. Shouldn't start thinking about it too much, need to go to sleep.

Great thread!
I love subtle, not overpowering fragrances but unfortunately can't wear them any longer due to asthma (got it for the first time @ age 42). When someone walks by or I am trapped in an airplane or office with someone that wears way too much (can't they smell it?) or a scent like Georgio (remember that one?); I pretty much instantly start to wheeze. No fun at all.
