I saw this today.
It's very well done and, if you look past the action part, has some pretty deep universal questions and answers. |

I just saw " Wild Tales" ...an Argentinian film that I totally LOVED and can't recommend highly enough. A black comedy that really does work. Just loved every minute of it.

I saw Home.
It has a good message but a lot of the funny bits are already in the trailer. It got really good at the end even though I saw it coming. All in all, it's a very good movie. Shorter than I thought it would be but good. Last edited by Gemme; 03-27-2015 at 05:35 PM. |

Finding Neverland
This charming account of a period in the life of author J.M. Barrie (Johnny Depp) reveals the real relationships and events that served as the basis for the author's most iconic work, "Peter Pan." After Barrie develops a platonic relationship with the widowed Sylvia (Kate Winslet) and her four sons, he is inspired to write a play about a group of children who don't want to grow up. The work proves a hit and winds up bringing Barrie and the children together in a way he had never expected. (Saw this before and it never grows old to me - just a movie I could watch over and over) ************************************************** ************ Perfume - The Story of a Murderer With his incredible talent for discerning scents, Jean-Baptiste Grenouille (Ben Whishaw) is one of 18th-century France's finest perfumers. He becomes obsessed with capturing an elusive aroma: the scent of young womanhood. His search takes a deadly turn, and when the bodies of 12 young females are found, panic breaks out, with families rushing to lock up their daughters. This movie was disturbingly good - also stars Dustin Hoffman, Rachel Hurd- Wood, Alan Rickman, and Karoline Herfurth |

Not exactly a cinephile's dream but entertaining; in a scary, bloody, zombie, kind of way:
Wyrmwood: Road of the Dead. An Australian movie.

It looked like it had a lot of humor in it too, Anya. I might have to look that one up.
I got in one more movie before calling it a night last night. It was better than I expected it to be and I was happy with the ending. |

The off-beat, tongue-in-cheek humor, reminded me of Shawn of the Dead but with Aussie accents instead of Brits.

On Netflix:
Inspiring story of transgender former Navy Seal Kristin Beck: Lady Valor: The Kristin Beck Story, former U.S. Navy SEAL Christopher Beck embarks on a new mission as Kristin Beck. Kristin's journey in search of the American ideals that she protected have a whole new meaning as she lives her life truthfully as a transgender woman. Kristin served for over 20 years as a member of the elite special forces Navy SEALs on SEAL Team 1 as well as the United States Special Warfare Development Group – what many in the public refer to as SEAL Team 6. She retired in 2011 with the rank of Senior Chief and continued high-level clearance work for the United States government and the Pentagon. Kristin hid her true identity throughout and after her service knowing she would lose it all if anyone were to know her secret. In 2013, a year and a half after retirement, Kristin came out publicly first on LinkedIn and on CNN’s Anderson Cooper 360.

I did something different today. Our local cinema plays a silver screen classic every Monday at 1pm. They charge $2 per person and admission includes a tiny drink and popcorn. It's really cute.
I went today for the first time and even though one guy left his cell phone on but couldn't hear it going off in the middle of the movie and another guy woke himself up with his own snoring and yet another person coughed up half a lung during the movie, I actually enjoyed it. Clearly it's a tightknit group as they knew all of one another's names and mentioned when one guy was late. Turns out he was in Boston traffic 2 hours before the movie and nearly ran his car into the ground to get there. I talked with a couple while we were in line for the goodies and they seemed really nice. I won't get the opportunity to go every week but I think I'll be able to swing once or twice a month. The movie was good (despite the racism and sexism that came with 1949) and the experience was fun. I love horse movies and especially ones based on real horses. |

I had these two movies on yesterday whilst doing chores and housework.
You know the story and who doesn't love a good rendition of I Need a Hero? You think you know the story but do you really? I loved this movie and was happy to find it in a sale bin. |

Last night I got around to finally seeing Imitation Games and while I liked it well enough, I wished it had not jumped back and forth as much! I wished they had focused more in a direct time line fashion! Otherwise I thought it was a very interesting movie
