All the identities we have
I have more than just one ID, I have more than just a sexual or gender ID.
What IDs make you feel a sense of connection with others? Give you a sense of self? Mine, and in no particular order: Feminist -third wave Femme/Dolly Dyke -an internal identity. I don't feel I have much in common with other femmes just on the basis of having the same gender as them Queer-dyke -in North America. I still call myself a lesbian in the UK Sub (fiesty) Daughter Socialist Southwest coast BC'er -because of the dirt. I feel connect to this dirt, these trees, these mountains. NOT canadian. I am not a patriot. I don't feel I have much in common with someone just because they come from Edmonton in the next province over Cousin-friend - my friends that I love like family I feel a family like responsibility too and they are part of my identity Ex-sexworker/sex advocate -big part of who I am, I feel pride about this like people do about being gay and have shame shoved at them for being gay. So I'm out and proud about it. Writer Smart arse. Last edited by imperfect_cupcake; 01-04-2015 at 06:08 PM. |
