Took Heidi out for a walk in the yard, and saw this brownish looking something moving. Walked up to it.......a big box turtle(?) was feasting on my grass. I got a short video of it then it crawled away into the drain pipe in the yard....
. So cute. I saw a roseate spoonbill yesterday...such interesting sights to see while driving here...

So many reasons to smile today:
1. I got my bookshelf put together and it looks really nice - and I even used all the parts which is a good sign that it won't suddenly fall apart one day, lol.
2. I managed to change the toilet seat which was broken. A revolting task, but it had to be done because every time I sat down it was pinching my bottom, lol. 3. This actually happened two days ago, but it's still pretty cool. I went out to my car to get tools and when I turned around I was startled to find THREE wild peacocks standing right behind me! Like, reach out and touch me behind me. Two females and one male. They were just hanging around showing off for me in their natural resplendence. I saw 5 of them once on the roof of the building across the street strutting around. I'd guess I'd strut around like that, too, if my backside looked nearly so glorious, lol. 4. No work - always a reason to smile, lol.

Went online soon as I woke up to check on a death row dog. She was scheduled to die at the kill shelter yesterday and I did not see her until late last night. I hurriedly pledged money to help save her. She had already been flipped into the UNKNOWN STATUS folder and that is a deadly place for these poor souls to land. They usually go straight to the GONE FOLDER from there. Anyway, this morning I smiled, then laughed out loud, got a little choked up too when I saw this adorable little bully girl in the SAFE FOLDER. A rescue did an awesome scramble to pull her out of that deathtrap at that time in the evening. I am so happy! Now she will get a great forever home! Rescues are so particular about who gets to adopt ... and they do follow up check-ins on the dogs too. If something is not right, they will take the dog back in a heartbeat with no apology.

I was checking on the eaglets who are now 6 and 8 days old. Even tho they still have the body control of a dish of jello, they managed to crawl their way over to the food pantry. By the time they got there, they were exhausted and ended up napping, using a carp for a pillow. Parents gonna have their hands full with these two. |

I actually cooked! It's nice to be home this week and can have time to make meals.
Breakfast was steak, scrambled eggs, fresh mushrooms. Dinner was pork chops, fresh green beans & parmesan risotto. The risotto wsa store bought and it was okay but next time I'll just skip it. I plan to cook again tomorrow. Yay! |
