I love to camp and I am so ready to go now that it has cooled off a bit outside!

I will probably lose my dyke documents for this but my idea of camping is a well equiped suite at the Marriott with room service, a valet, and hot tub. I can also ruff it and go without the hot tub. |

I'm a camper too!
We bought a new tent this year, the first that either of us has ever had that one can stand up in with head room to spare. What luxury. |

I bought a 3 person pop up tent this weekend.
I have not been camping since July 4th weekend 2011. That was the last camping trip I took with my cousin before she died. She was on steroids and her OCD was in high gear. She must have zipped and unzipped the tent 10,000 times. Bittersweet memories. When I think of camping, I think of her. I put it off because I didn't want to deal with those emotions. I am ready now. |

I've also got a 8'x16' regular tent, a queen-size air mattress that takes sheets just like a regular bed. I bring all the other things listed above, plus carpeting for the inside of the tent, 400 thread-count sheets, comforter, equipment to make a nightstand and drawer for my things... Oh, and I forgot that I rig-up a window unit A/C into the regular tent, when the weather is warmer. We've even built a privacy screen and our own "kitty-litter" powered porta-privvy. We don't suffer much when we camp. WT |

Camping! I must have forgotten about this thread
Jack and I love to camp but had to sell our trailer before we moved from Los Angeles. It was a 24-foot Fleetwood and we loved taking it out and enjoying nice weekends at the lake. We've decided that we won't buy another trailer for a while so I've been working on building up our camping equipment. This weekend I went yard-saling with Riverboi and picked up a Coleman "Powerhouse" lantern for $5!! These are usually in the $100 range so I was tickled about it! Also picked up a screened enclosure to put over the picnic table area to keep out the mosquitos at Sam's a few weeks ago and have lots of other gear already. I have several sizes of dutch ovens and have practiced making different things in them over the years. CAN'T WAIT for cooler weather so we can make fires and cook and fish!!

ME, ME <raising hand>
I have camped all my life in all sorts of ways, tents, vans, travel trailers. This year I bought a class A motor home (not new) and moved from a two-bedroom house to an RV. All of my material things were either sold, given away or tossed, except for a small box of pictures and a few items of clothing and some kitchen items and bedding. It was very freeing.
I am now a full-timer and am working my way across the US. My plan is to live at Sam's Town in Las Vegas for the rest of my life. *kidding* Wanna swap camping stories? |

I started camping in tents with the Girl Scouts and my parents mannnnnnny moons ago, but the older I get the more I like my comfort. We now have a Class "C" Motorhome.
Next week we will be going to the Lake to stay in floating cabins with some friends to celebrate my Kasey's Birthday. Fishing off the front deck....life doesn't get much better than that! |

Everything tastes yummy when you eat it outside. I have an electric griddle that I put on my picnic table and just plug in. I don't know why but eggs and hash browns and bacon taste so much better when they are cooked outside. |
