My youngest brother, Mike:

I was nearly grown when my
mom and dad had him and even
though I practically raised him the
first 3 years of his life, we share the
most amazing brother/sister bond, ever.
After all these years, we are inseparable
and think very much alike. He called me today
even though his worklife as an engineer is time consuming.

Went to the other building this afternoon, did some utility software installs on a new user's workstation. I say he is new - two months new. I think this fellow is going to be a big asset to our users group ... this is the the second time I have gone over there for specific work with him. Eric feels solid. Supervisor agrees whole-heartedly.

Getting a note today from someone who was a friendly acquaintance in high school (one of the "cool kids" who I could never aspire to be) who I saw last weekend for the first time in 35 years. The details would take too much backstory but I will say that it touched my heart and brought tears to my eyes.

I smile all the time...and am just happy...so really nothing special needed to make me smile..BUT today is extra special..I am making a picnic lunch and going to watch the dolphin in the Intercoastal around 100PM. Taking my lil dachsie, Heidi!! I will make her a sammie, too. Ham and Tomato sammies, watermelon wedges, and a drink!!

Sixteen pairs of knickers!!! I may not need to go shopping for knickers for another 10 years.

She also bought me other goodies - lovely NZ goodies as well as yummy things I had left at my mum's and dad's because I ran out of weight allowance when I went home last March.

Let the grrly fun begin!

What made me smile today...

When I was told they were not considering me to fill-in for an immediate abscence of one of the overnights because of her family emergency.

"You pull way too many hours for us as a fill-in already and your overtime would be in the 60 hour range if we did. We'll ask you as an ultimate last resort."

Finally getting some irritating medical tests out of the way. The nurse had to stab me 3 times before finding a vein but afterwards she said I was a "great patient and such a sweetheart" that she snuck me over to the employee break area and gave me a well deserved soda and a cookie. Yummy!

Blatantly ignoring doctor's orders that were so sternly given two days ago....and feeling just fabulous about the snub thank-you-very-much. Sometimes the patient does know best!
