Joan Eriksons's Unconventional Wisdom
Overdose the senses -get out of your body, absorbing all that you come in contact with
Dance beyond the breakers - In order not to fail in the end, you have to be dependent on yourself and know that you can handle things. Most importantly, bring a little humor into despair. Lightness, imagination, flexibility - these are the things that go into making a new start. Sponsor yourself -Dont deny yourself to please others. You only lose yourself in the promise. Share what you know -Be generative. Pass on what you know. In sharing there is real delight. People in every stage depend on other people. Out of connection real growth happens. If there is no reciprocity, nothing ever works. Play out your experiences - We dont stop playing because we grow old. We grow old because we stop playing. Reach for satisfaction - Does what you are doing, in work or play, satisfy you? Does it make you sing, laugh? If so, latch onto it. Always be willing to embrace challenges - A good life is like a weaving. Energy is created in the tension. The struggle, the pull and the tug are everything.

"Oh, the comfort - the inexpressible comfort of feeling safe with a person - having neither to weigh thoughts nor measure words, but pouring them all right out, just as they are, chaff and grain together; certain that a faithful hand will take and sift them, keep what is worth keeping, and then with the breath of kindness blow the rest away." ~Dinah Craik, A Life for a Life, 1859 . |

Embracing Imperfection
In my job I love to read to the elderly. They say I have a soothing voice umm ok..but I think I just like to hear myself speak! lol
Anyway.. I read this today and wanted to share it with you all! Embracing Imperfection: "when I was a little girl, my mom liked to make breakfast food for dinner every now and then. And I remember one night in particular when she had made breakfast after a long hard day at work. On that evening so long ago, my mom placed a plate of eggs, sausage and extremely burned toast in front of my dad. I remember waiting to see if anyone noticed! yet al my dad did was reach for his toast, smile at my mom and asked me how my ay at school was. I don't remember what I told him that night, but I do remember watching him smear butter and jelly on that toast and eat every bite! When I got up from the table that evening, I remember hearing my mom apologize to my dad for burning his toast. And I 'll never forget what he said "Baby, I love burned toast" Later that night, I went to kiss daddy good night and I asked him if he really liked his toast burned. He wrapped me in his arms and said "Debbie your momma put in a hard day at work today and she is real tired, and besides a little burnt toast never hurt anyone!. You know, life is full of imperfect things. and imperfect people. Im not the best housekeeper or cook. Dont let a little burnt toast be a deal breaker! What I've learned over the years is that learning to accept each other's faults - and choosing to celebrate each others differences is the one most important key to creatign a healthy growing and lasting relationship.. The end. SOOOO of course there is always a wise ass in my group and he stands up and said:::: BULLSHIT..its great sex that keeps ya together..hahah gotta love dementia! Enjoy Lillie

All men dream but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds wake in the day to find that it was vanity; but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act their dream with open eyes to make it possible
