If being provacative is stating my opinon then so be it...i think that the wedding is a waste of time and money better spent elsewhere but i dont have to support a corrupt monarchy..just a corrupt plutocracy here in the us...

I don't have an issue with you over your support, or otherwise, for the monarchy or corruption or whatever / however you try to camouflage your earlier statements. My issue is your sectarian and ethnic remarks about Northern Ireland and that's what I've called you out on. That's what I'll continue to call you out on. I've got your card marked. Anyway, folks, back onto the main topic of the Royal Wedding and the big day ..... my guess, for what it's worth, is that the dress will be pretty and white ... |

For those concerned about the cost of the Royal Wedding...
http://royalwedding.yahoo.com/blogs/...ys-the-bill-86 Pretty reasonable, I'd say, especially given the fact that many much needed millions will be coming into the UK as a result of the wedding and, indirectly, 'feeding the hungry'. Not being sarcastic here, I'm really not, but I guess it's hard to understand why the wedding is a good thing unless you have a real royal family of your own as opposed to a culture strewn with wannabes such as Paris Hilton. i enjoy watching your Royals, but am a happy to live in a republic. No royal family envy for me anyway. i can't argue with the Paris Hilton comment. Her dog is cute though. Cuter than the corgis, in fact! Man, the Obamas' portuguese water dog or whatever it is called is a homely creature though. |

I can't say that I have any interest in staying up to watch it, although I may be up late enough to catch a few bits and pieces. I think the gf is planning on staying up for it though and I have a few friends that have mentioned either watching it or DVR'ing to watch later.
I am somewhat interested in the dress and looking forward to the news reports tomorrow. I'm sure I will be able to get my fill on the interwebs. With all that being said, I do think it's very cool to hear about the different ways that people are celebrating this events. I've lost count of the number of local events that are happening, including the tea house in Seattle that is opening at 1 a.m. There's everything from breakfast at a local pub to some extra super fancy expensive, sold out the day after the date was announced, party. The radio station I listen to is also in contact with two local women who went there for the wedding and they've been giving live updates every few hours of where they are and what they are doing. That's been kind of fun. I wish them well and keep my fingers crossed that the only thing that goes sideways during this event is maybe a few rain drops. |

Perhaps you'd understand that if you weren't navigating the strewn tea and inbreeding. No sarcasm, really. And I'm hardly the type to hoist an American flag--But your tone is just incredibly odd--Unless you're actually a member of the wedding--Why connect our lack of personal investment with tabloid headliners? Maybe it's because you call it "football". |

I thought that I'd give my perspective on 'why all the fuss about a wedding' as an American living in the UK. I don't post on the forums much, mostly because I don't think anything I would have to say would be of either any interest or would just bait the flame throwers, and because I get very disgusted when I hear what is being said in here and how people speak to one another want no part of it...and I really don't have the time. My garden needs tending and the dogs need walking and, frankly, my heart and mind do not thrive on online conflict.
I am honored to be here in the United Kingdom and have hung out the bunting and and put up the British flag to celebrate a great day with my neighbours. England is a country of Kings and Queens and a rich history. Hollywood loves English Royalty...remember Elizabeth, Elizabeth the Golden Years, The King's Speech, The Other Boleyn Girl...and those are just recent movies. This is the United Kingdom's cultural identity. This wedding gives the people of the United Kingdom pride and hope, most certainly it brings people together for a joyous reason. Lady Diana was well beloved and many people who loved and respected her see this as a time to remember her and to witness the marriage of her son William, the future King of the United Kingdom, because she never lived to see this day. It is an honor to be here because this is no ordinary wedding; this is history in the making and we are here to see it and as a very lovely 90 year old British man said on our news this morning " It makes me proud to be British and is a memory that will be with us all for the rest of our lives". This is not just any wedding. These are not movie stars or multi-millionaires. This is the future King, a symbol of the United Kingdom for millions and millions of people...an estimated 2.5 Billion people watching all over the world...I think that, of all the things costing a bundle (like 2.4 Billion dollars on the American presidential elections...including 779.4 million on just one candidate's campaign) this is fully justified because the people of the United Kingdom would expect nothing less. This is their wedding too and I am happy Prince William realizes that and has shared it with us all. So, on that note, I'm going to don my asbestos jumpsuit and get out of here...but please check out these over-priced nuptials.... http://www.elistmania.com/juice/10_m...sive_weddings/ Happy Royal Wedding Day!!! Yes, up watching.... and I am really enjoying the joyous faces of the people that seem to be really enjoying this. I know there are a lot of tourists, but it seems like this is a very special day for the British people and many are out for this wedding. It is part of their culture and history.
Looks like there have been many areas set aside with big screens for people to watch and many are having a great time with family and friends. It is also making me want to go to the UK again! Love it- Anderson Cooper just made a comment about the hats.. he's amazed by them.... love it since his Mom is a fashion icon. |

I am somewhat fascinated by the fascinators. Heh. That big blue foot shaped thing one woman is wearing on her forehead is very odd.

Diva, you're so awesome.
Dame Elton John and his husband David just showed up and were seated right up front with all the other family and close friends and I was just thinking how different it is here. That made me feel a real rush of pride You gotta love this place! |

Happy Royal Wedding day! I thought the prime ministers wife was hatless too but she has a little tea coaster thing on the right side of her head. I love the hats! Tho some are reminding me of carnival day in Ptown. Glad I wasnt invited cuz the only hat I own is the Red Sox World Series Champs baseball cap.
