Hey Morningstar!!!

Haven't heard from you in forever!!!!! How have you been? Let's see, where you can park your truck... I'm thinking maybe Backstreet - it's off Madison, near the Blue Monkey. Right next to it is a truck lot and I seem to remember trucks also in the club's parking lot. It's pretty big.

Hope that helps!

Hey all my TN peeps!

I'm gonna be in Nashville the weekend of Dec. 13. On Sunday I am going to Star Wars in Concert. A full orchestra playing the music from the movies while scenes are shown on a huge screen with a laser and light show to make it more interesting. For those who know me, it'll be like porn for me. Plus I bet I'll cry.

In any case, I'll be in town and would love to hook up, maybe sometime on Saturday. Anyone interested?

I know it'll be after the 10th. I usually come in on a Friday - the first Friday is new Year's and the second is my birthday so I won't be scheduling one until at least the 15th.

Yes, please let's all get together!!!

I know I'm in Memphis the next four weekends - Norah :dogwalking: and I are doing obedience school, cause, you know, I'm not obedient enough for her

After the classes are over I'm planning to come into town for the weekend with no obligations or plans other than hang out with my TN peeps.

I should be pretty flexible (once I'm properly obedient) so let me know what works for folks and I'll try to swing it.

Happy Weekend!!!

Jen,

We can work completely around your schedule :)

Seriously, I'm coming into town Friday night. I/we figured we'd hang out Saturday evening. I have no gift as a social planner so grab a bite to eat, who knows what else. I'm hanging with my bro all weekend, but wanted to see all of ya'll. Not sure who all is on here. Hmmm, definitely want Jodi, Sheila, Billy, Princess - I know I'm leaving folks out. Oh, gonna invite SweetTNFemme. So whoever is part of the Nashville posse. I don't think Deb has any definite plans, so we're probably open to suggestions - unless she is being my social secretary.

Anyway, put it on the calendar - it's gonna happen.

Not trying to be a bitch, but EVERY time I plan something someone calls me the next day about why we went that place, why so and so was invited....it was hot, it was too crowded, there was too much smoke, so and so dated their ex, so and so hit on them, their white zinfandale was warm, they did not like where they sat, the server at Waffle House was not "trained" well enough.........

Can't do it.

Makes my head want to explode thinking about it.

Just one request, no Logans. I am allergic to peanuts.

Nashville is a casualish kind of place. I wear dresses a lot though and pretty much everywhere. Up to you. I would not go real dressy though, Rose Pepper is a California/Mexican food place.

I have no idea what I will be wearing, likely a dress or black slacks. I can't wear jeans since my hysterectomy...zippers hurt. BLAH.

i was at the library today with a certain little nine year old [daughter of friend], and found literature on a table about all the starving horses in the area of tennessee which i am visiting. i want to start a horse pet food pantry here now [i started this in my state of indiana for cats/dogs]. my heart goes out to these animals, as well as their people who are unble to find help with properly caring for- feeding- their horses. i spoke with several employees at the local library for a while on topic. very unsettling situation.

This issue is incredibly unsettling, to say the least... This economy has forced many people to abandon their animals; some do try to at least turn them over to shelters, etc. There seems to be a lot in the news related to the increase in horse/farm animal neglect, abuse, and death.

The fact that politicians fear changing the laws that dictate which animals are livestock and which are to be considered pets just irks me... It's a bunch of horseshit (an old term that I love)!

Depends on the dress and if it has a Copenhagen ring? And if it's still raining and muddy. Good possibility I will have on a dress, I wear them a lot.

I have not been watching the local news, so did not know. I used to have a friend who bough old sick horses and gave them a place to be. Would love to help from a far...sadly I am allegic to horses and hay...which is sad for me.

Come one, come all to Camp Quit'yerbitchin!

a Cookout for Femmes, Butches, FTM's, partners, allies and whoever you want to invite or bring!

May 8, 2010 at noon at Old Hickory Beach. It's easy to Google.

We will cook out, swim, fish, hike, play games, chat and gaze at the locks on Old Hickory dam and just enjoy each other's company. The area is huge, so if there is someone who'se company you do not enjoy, they will be easy to avoid :). The area is wheelchair accessible and there is a covered shelter which seats 100, if it rains or you need to stay out of the sun. There are restrooms avaiblable as well as area to put boats, kayaks and canoes in.

Please let us know in the comments if you have a special dish you would like to bring, or if you would rather be assigned something or you would rather help with the set up and clean up crew (or all of the above). For those who are able $10 will help cover costs.

There is a 4$ per car fee to park.

Please feel free to invite your B-F friends! It would be great to get the word out to the rest of TN and surrounding states and to those who travel a lot. So invite away. Like we said, it is a huge area, so if you don't like someone quit'yerbitchin and hang out away from them :)

More details to follow as we see how many people are interested. Stay posted!

Shadows Papa and I are safe. I am northeast of Nashville and we have a lot of flooding at major intersections. My home is safe as I am up on higher ground. They have opened a shelter here in town, but I think we will be ok here.

I have also been in contact with Spirit Dancer!

Davidson County (Nashville) has been declared a disaster area. They are talking about starting the process of sandbagging on the Riverfront Park, to help protect the downtown area.

I talked to Jodi this morning-ish and she is fine, as are we here. Mom's house is flooded 'cause she sits on a foundation, but mine is fine with its 'crawl space'. So glad she is in the Nursing Home. That would have been a disaster to try to deal with.

Just talked to Shark and he is back home safe now. Goomba HAD to have cigs and coke. LOL

Some folks that aren't on here but that some of us know, Andy, Ruthie, Nicole, and Das, are all okay too. Flooding in their neighborhoods but not at their homes.

Thanks for keeping in touch folks.

Things okay over here in Memphis. We weren't hit nearly as hard, at least in the city itself. Lots of flooding on streets where it dips down but can't take a boat through town. Outlying areas were hit much harder - Millington, just north of here had 5+ feet of flooding over the whole town. Apparently lots of power outages here too, but I'm not affected.

Very glad that my Nashville peeps seem to be okay though.

I saw the Opryland Hotel on the news a little while ago and it did not look like it was in danger of the flooding...the Opry Mills Mall had water standing in the parking lot

update (just saw this on the news)...that does make sense to evacuate because they are going to release some water at Old Hickory Dam (because of the pressure it is causing)

My brother called earlier, they were out checking on the boats and semis. Well his best friend lost his semi (tractor and trailer), the only thing they could see was the smoke stacks on the cab of the tractor. He has only had this semi for a few months and just got the business up and running in the last few weeks. His semi was parked in Bethpage.

Checking in...

Checking in we were evacuated but are safe now, thanks Snack for keeping us up to date while we were fighting the floods.

I would be interested in knowing where they are going to put approximately 1500 people (guest and employees), because most of the hotels are FULL or FLOODED. It took Spirit several stops to find an actual hotel that had a room!

Spoke to Oiler last night late, too....and He said that Pup had made it to the HS and we both agreed that she will NOT be amused about sleeping on the floor of some gym with God~only~knows HOW many people!

The latest report I have gotten from the Tennessean's website is saying they expect the Cumberland to crest at 52.5 ft. The Opryland Hotel was up to 10 ft of water and still rising. Hopefully the release of water from Old Hickory Lake will help alleviate a bit of the damage when the river does crest. After that maybe as the flood waters recede and they can assess the damages the cleanup and rebuilding of our Midstate can begin. Hope everyone got home safe tonight from work. Shad

Non-Nashvillians: please spread the word, in case folks don't grasp the severity of what's going on. Temporary shelters are at capacity, missing people are unaccounted for, many homes are under water, we're in a water conservation emergency, much of Nashville's economic base is threatened by flood damage, etc, etc. We're going to need help. Text 'REDCROSS' to 90999 to donate $10 to disaster relief. Thanks

I'm back home in Austin - okay, so I was inconvenienced for 2 days and couldn't have any coffee or hot food (or bed). At least until Billy rolled in and took me to a nice hot dinner.

Big whoop. All I had to worry about was my suitcase and my company's equipment, NOT my home, lifelong possessions, family, livelihood. It is awful that this is happening to Nashville.

And, guests from Opryland complaining -- I heard about the news report on the first group who went to the high school from Opryland. How ridiculous!! The staff from the Opryland went far and above the call of duty to try to make things comfortable, including buying out Walmart to get every pillow and blanket available, buying about 1000 pizzas from Dominos at 3am - and bussing every possible amenity they could from the hotel (including searching rooms and public areas for suitcases we had to leave behind and carrying them to the high school for us). After the confusing first few hours when no one knew what would happen, we had an abundant supply of water, snacks, and sandwiches. The floor is hard and not possible to sleep on, especially with 2000 of your new friends, but so what? Those people from the Opryland stayed up all night long and all day serving US every way they could, including finding hotels and transportation home and CLEANING constantly. The whole while in crisp uniforms and smiles. While most of them had been stuck at the hotel for days because the roads were closed, knowing their cars were flooded out in the parking lot, not knowing how their family and homes were doing, and with no sleep or end in sight. I can't believe people dared to complain. (to their credit, most of the people I saw were thanking the staff and helping clean up)

Glad to be home, sick about what's happening in Nashville.

I would like to see how anyone would evacuate that place better - you're talking about thousands of people who don't believe anything is actually going to happen and they don't want to leave. The hotel was trying very hard to continue to treat everyone as guests while getting them to leave. They did a good job of it too -- yeah, they could have started screaming and cuss over bullhorns and let off sirens and start a panic. Instead they tried to make it as pleasant as going to a nasty high school instead of your cushy hotel room could be.

Oh yeah, they hadn't had power all day already (which means little/no AC in that steamy atrium) and lots of employees had been stranded at the hotel since Saturday, so they were already at the end of their ropes. But they did NOT show it at all, even to rude self-centered guests.

I think it says a lot about the qality of the management and the employees.

I didnt know just how stressful this was while it was going on until today.
Now Im feeling it. I tried to help save my sisters house all day Sunday, cleaned up all week her place and mine, rescued people with my boat, not realizing today I have an earache from the water, how hungry Ive been, tired, and how I havent thought of anything else until now & find a sickness in my stomach today. This was not fun and was such a mess.
It's nice to see the good from this and not the bad.

I wonder what happened to all the wild deer that was in the fences near the OH damn there next to where the get together was going to be Saturday? I hope they werent washed up as I watched the lake when the dam opened as boats, docks, parts of houses, trees, just all kinds of stuff rushed down the river toward the dam. Even told coffins were seen going down the cumberland river.

Ive never seen so many loose things in the water.

Im hoping by Monday some normalty may come back into my life.

Good people all of you.

It has been so stressful, and we did not have any water in the house thanks to getting French drains last year and getting the roof fixed and all the flashing redone.

If you don't feel better by tomorrow, maybe call the doc and get some ear drops? and get some REST. I know rest is not your thing, but you need it now!

I hope they got the deer out too!

Glad you are OK!

Glad we are all OK!

Hugs for you! I hope your stress eases as the days pass. Let us know if we can be of any assistance!!

Hi my friends. Hoping those touched by the flooding are getting things put back to normal, as much as possible. I've looked at a number of photos and videos of the devastation. For the most part I just sat amazed and stunned, although the pics of the Grand Old Opry really got to me - brought tears to my eyes. I'll be in Nashville next month - would love to see y'all.

I was just watching YouTube videos....

I didn't realize Jackson was flooded too and so close to my house!

*sighs*

I guess I'd better call my realtor.

So I'm out looking for jobs in the nuclear industry. I don't think I'm going to get to stay in Knoxville. There are two jobs in the paper and one requires I speak and write fluent in Mandarin Chinese. I dun think this is gonna happen.
