Heh, I really shouldn't be here again but I took a little break tonight to go outside and wander for a bit and discovered that we had a neighborhood BBQ going on outside!

So anyway, this group called The Redeemed played a set of ballads on a 6-string Alavarez guitar and a stand-up bass and let me tell you, they were fabulous!!!!

They have a face book account and if any of you are interested in listening to some of their stuff, they have music tabs/demos on their page!

The song I liked the most tonight was called "The lovely" and it was a slow two-step (2/4 time?) number with the most beautiful lyrics I've ever heard... They are also in the process of cutting a demo and hope to have an album out before long and I predict that they will be the hottest thing on the market before long... :)

For some reason,
this week I have thought about
the women I have lost in my life.
Great women — my grandmother,
my mother, and two cousins.

My mother sang with bands in the early 50s
and she aspired to become a professional
singer, but she had me instead.

Back in the day, we would all be in the kitchen
doing dishes or something and someone
would say "sing Shirl....." and she would
belt out a tune with that great mezzo
voice of hers.

I'm listening to a compilation of her
favorite songs from 1950 to 1954,
and remembering how we would all
stop what we were doing and listen
to her sing a song or two from....
