I don't know where the heck you have been- well I sort of do- but they never stopped being a thing! I have a good friend who I see once a week. Watching a documentary on the downfall of Atari called Atari: game over.

It is really interesting.

What killed it? The game was ET The Extraterrestrial, made for the 2600 console.

The game was called the worst video game ever by gamers and video magazines.

The company wound up with so many millions of unsold cartridges, they buried them in a New Mexico landfill and the company went under.

Postscript: in 2014, fans, original employees and the game designer got permission to to dig up the landfill to try to find the dumped & buried cartridges.

18 feet down, they found ET cartridges in boxes and all the gathered geeks gave a cheer! They did not find millions of them, however, and all involved decided that ET should not take the blame for the death of the company.

There were other factors at work.

They then also decided ET was not the worst video game of all time and that there were plenty that were far worse..

It was sweet.

So as it turns out, one pair is great! On the second pair the "reader" part was about half the size it was supposed to be, so I sent them back for the 2nd time. I paid way too much to accept halfass workmanship. I've never had so many problems getting glasses before. Thing is, it's not the optical place that is at fault, my insurance company has it's own lab where the lenses are made. At least I have the one good pair now! :)

Enjoying an oatmeal spice muffin I made. I finished the dishes from making the muffins, rice pudding, peanut butter cookie dough and the prep for green chili verde simmering with pork. (The cookie dough needs to chill)

It's been raining all. Day. Long.
