I hope your fire house sleep was good, Orema!

:giggle:

I got about 8 last night. Delicious!

Glad you got lots of rest. :) And, it wasn't bad for me since I have a few days off. I just have to get back on schedule by Monday.

Things could be worse.

About 5 hours the first time. I woke up and realized I'd fallen asleep with all the lights on in the house and with my face still on so I turned those off, turned off the computer, washed my face and brushed my teeth and went back for round 2, which gave me a little over another 2 hours and then I drifted back for another hour. All in all, about 8 hours but it doesn't feel that way.

6 hours and it was a good sleep. I've started taking 5mg of Ambien and it's been helping. It doesn't have me groggy in the morning as it did when I tried it after I had a heart attack years ago. And it gives me an uninterrupted sleep for at least 4 hours ... sometimes longer. I really like that.

Grass/keif gives me a deep sleep but I wake up often ... I prefer the Ambien for a sleep aid.

I made sure to get all the sleep I could last week and last night I slept 8 hrs. I officially start transcribing today and it's going to be a very challenging for the next 9 weeks with no room to sleep or anything else.

I really enjoy what I'm learning so I am willing to sacrifice what I need to in order to succeed. I love the crisp cold air in the morning and not to mention the beautiful silence. It helps me focus.

I try and go to bed by 8 pm reading a lesbian story on my kindle, fall asleep between 8:30 and 9 pm. If I wake up at night, I watch the stars until I fall back to sleep. It's very peaceful to me. I wake up around 4 or 5 am, depending on how I feel.

According to my Fitbit I got about 4 hours of sleep.
I wholeheartedly blame C because she kept me up most of the night with plans to take over the world, random laughter, and kicking each other under the covers like we've been doing since we were 15.

AND she invited my 70-pound Golden up into the bed with us which meant I had approximately 4 millimeters of room in which to sleep.

Good thing I love them both to pieces. <3

Maybe two hours... I was worrying about a mistake I made at work yesterday. I realized I made the mistake around midnight last night. Then I couldn't stop thinking about it all night. Now I'm nearly sick to my stomach about it.

I know there's nothing I can do about it at this point but I'm not so good at the "letting go" thing. My anxiety level is pretty high so I'm trying to distract myself in the arcade.

Thanks gals - unfortunately I've been at work for 4 hours now trying to fix the mistake. I called my supervisor to update her on what's going on. I was feeling pretty emotional after not having any sleep. Towards the end of the conversation I asked if I was going to get fired over this and her response was, "maybe." :(

So you have just as much chance of not being fired as being fired is what I'm hearing you say. Just breathe. What's done is done and all you can do at this point is to mitigate the damage as much as possible and do your best to fix it as best as it can be done. That must have been a really hard conversation. I'm sorry it happened.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

I haven't been getting as much sleep as I'd like to, lately. I no more than solve one problem in life, then another rolls right on in. My bff/sil is not getting any better, she's getting worse. I just learned today the latest whereabouts of my youngest son (not good). My oldest son is holding out on his own, fairly well.... but still, it's so hard to let go and trust that everything is as it should be, even if it's not the way I'd like it to be.... for myself or those I dearly love and care about.

I got only about three hours of uninterrupted sleep last night.

I have no idea if I will be able to sleep tonight.

I'm tired, so maybe tonight I'll sleep better than I have in night's past.

We'll see. I remain cautiously optimistic.... :moonstars:

Last night was inventory, and to keep myself up past my usual bedtime, I had some coffee.
Which, did the trick, but kept me up, way too long. By 3am, I forced myself to bed. Um, not working. Got a leg cramp, got up and walked around. Laid back down. Nope, not working. Took a warm shower, turned on some relaxing music. Nope, my mind is fully awake.

Got up to watch some boring TV.
Well, let's try this again. Laid there, thinking, at 5:30 now, how the wind blowing thru the blinds was going to keep this saga going.

Fell asleep! I have to let caffeine go its course.

3 hours of sleep! That's not going to make it. Let's try this again..lol

I think I got about 7, which is a lot for me. I'm recovering from a 4 month stretch of insomnia, sleeplessness. Combination of my busy brain and my spouse taking up storing. (Ms. Tink, the struggle is real)

A combination of getting some Indica tincture, cbd oil, and listing to podcasts/audio books has put me back together again. My daughter turned me on to a podcast called "Nothing much happens" which is soft storytelling about a woman going about her day doing things like making a big batch of soup after a trip to the farmers market, or taking a hot bath after a cold walk in the woods. I love it. But also have heard all her stories now too many times. So the day before yesterday I downloaded audiobooks that Barack Obama wrote and read for recording and I slept blissfully all night with him reading softly to me when I would wake up, putting me quickly back to sleep. Last night I did the same with Maya Angelou. Both of them, their voices bring me peace and happiness. And I feel so much more rested!

Years ago, I had a dog who snored so loud. I bought those nose pinchers for her and tried. They did not work. I even gave it a go with Kevie, my present bully-mastiff mix. The nose pinchers did not work on him either.

Now, if Kevie gets really loud, I wake up or cannot sleep, I just reach over and start gently massaging him. Usually puts the skids on his snoring long enough for me to get back to sleep. I love Kevie so much, he is a precious soul!!

I usually sleep from around 3 or 4 a.m till 10 or 11 a.m. I am very much a night person even since I was a child. Went to a sleep clinic twice, yes a night person is real.

I think this is absolutely true, that some people are night owls, while others are more day-light hours oriented. But, then there is my mother. She just turned 80 (back in early July), and all her life, she's basically never really slept more than 3 or fours hours at a time -- and that is whenever she can lay down to rest. She's been a nurse all her life, mostly working around the clock, but primarily night shift (2300 hrs - 0700 hrs, plus xtra hrs due to her role as an investigator or Director of Nursing, etc).

It's like with my mom, someone has to insist that she lays down to rest because on her own, she won't. She's got what I call a bonafide case of "I can't sleep because I gotta make sure everything is done right" kind of thing. And she is not even OCD. LOL. What makes her 'tick' would surely send me off the cliff, readily and willingly. I have to have my rest and in bigger doses of rest. 3-4 hours is not enough for my body to recover or my mind.

9 hours is really good, when I've slept 9 hours.

Which, last night I fell into bed around 10:30 because my mind and body wouldn't let me stay up anymore. I rose from uninterrupted sleep (Because I made sure Miss Petunia slept out on the porch, LOL) around 9 am.

I need more rest and definitely more sleep. This past week at work was more than I could handle, but I didn't have any other choice, but to keep working until quitting time on Friday afternoon.

I have been using my ResMed CPAP with pillows for the past five nights. I have been sleeping through the night without having to get up to go potty or get a sip of water or anything. Over the past few days, I've gotten near-perfect scores for sleeping health. The sleep study found that I was having breathing incidents (not snoring, it's an airway block of sorts) before I began to use the ResMed Ladies CPAP machine with pillows for your nose... probably around ten per hour. Since five days ago, I now have less than .6 incidents per hour. Which is fantastic. I forgot what it was like to sleep an entire sleep cycle without getting up for x, y or z. I have slept wonderfully, since last Friday.

Last night, I logged 9.20 hours of uninterrupted sleep.

I feel better and better each day that goes by.

I’ve spent the last decade trying to sort out sleep. I’ve gone through all the sleep hygiene steps that I have found plus dietary changes and all sorts of sleep meds. I’ve also spent several years using a sleep tracker on my phone so I could see that all of the changes made no difference whatsoever. Stuck at 5 to 6 hours per night of fitful sleep seemingly forever.

I think I may have found the magic combination and I’m now getting 7-7.5 hours of sleep per night and much better quality. What did I do?

1. Stopped taking a prescribed anti-anxiety med that I have been on for 25 years, that helped the brainspin I would get whenever I woke up. It wasn’t fun to withdraw from especially during a pandemic lockdown, but worth it.
2. The biggest I think has been changing how I take magnesium supplements, it used to just be whatever was in my multivitamin and now I use a powder that you stir into water an hour before bed. That seems to keep me asleep at a deeper level and has the bonus of me being noticeably calmer during the day. It’s called “Calm (https://www.amazon.com/Natural-Vitality-Magnesium-Stress-Original/dp/B000OQ2DL4)” and is better than the Xanax was for me.
3. For the last couple of weeks I’ve been experimenting with some CBD oil in a reach for deeper sleep and it is definitely helping. The jury is still out as to whether or not I will continue using it, interesting to try.

At this point I’m very happy to get restful sleep for the first time in memory. Finally.

Thanks for sharing this, Orema. I have been wanting to try melatonin, but I've heard it makes you groggy in the morning. Could you share your experience?

You’re welcome. This brand doesn’t leave me groggy in the morning. I mention the brand because a different brand didn’t work at all.

Before the melatonin I was taking a prescription sleeping aid, Ambien, along with cannabis edibles to help me sleep. So my body is accustomed to sleep aids. Also, I tend to wake up early and stay in bed for a couple hours reading the news before getting up. But once I’m up, I’m in action and am ready to exercise and start my day.

I suggest you try it and see how it affects you. I’d start with a small dosage (3 mg?) to see how it works.

Good luck and let us know if you try it out.

I hadn't heard of this! I'm going to talk this over, sounds pretty cool but also weird to think my bed could be monitoring my sleep. But my watch does now so...

I've been sleeping so much better with a medication that tames my nightmares. It's shifted me from sleeping 4-5 hours with frequent wake ups and anxiety to often 7-9 hours with minimal waking and often no anxiety.

It's pretty life changing.

I've shorted myself the past few nights but will get a full night's sleep tonight since I can wake up later tomorrow.

7 hours.

Am testing the SnoreLab snoring app (https://www.snorelab.com). Snored lightly for 16% of the time last night though I had an epic snore for 2 seconds! LOL

It’s pretty cool. Think I’ll keep it and use the free version.

Not many, for the last several nights. My CPAP broke. It sounds like a jet engine when it's on. I'm pretty sure it's the bearings in the motor.

It will be January before I can even go to the doctor's appointment to get an appointment in the sleep lab. I have to do this to get a new prescription. Nobody will use my old prescription (admittedly, 11 years old) to get me a new CPAP.

There are people who repair CPAPs. However, they all sound very doubtful on the phone: "Oh, it's in the motor? We probably can't fix that." "Oh, it's too old. We can't work on that."

I can barely sleep without the thing. I snore so deeply that I wake myself up choking. What do people do who run into this problem? Yes, CPAPs last a long time, typically about 10 years, but they do break. You can't buy one on eBay because it's medical equipment and that's illegal. I might be insane from lack of sleep if I have to wait until late January to get a new one. Maybe there's someone in another city who I can ship mine to to get worked on.

Is anyone else waiting up to catch a glimpse of Santa?

I still couldn't sleep so I watched _It's a Wonderful Life_. It's one of my Top 10 faves.

I was doing great until 4AM this morning when I got up for a bathroom break. I put on the news to make sure the Donald did not have troops in the streets and am now hoping I can grab a hour before I really need to be up.

A solid 7, then a bathroom run and a quick check of storm damage and then back down for about an hour and a half. It was the BEST!

Five restless hours. Maybe I’ll catch another hour this morning.

None last night, none so far this morning. Computer gliche - working well for a change so not too bad. Going to just run with it as long as I can, make the best of it until exhaustion takes over, there are worse ways to suffer.

Ten good hours. But only because I got up early, had breakfast, and then went back to bed for five.

I slept in a split shift last night. Slept from 10-1:00 and then was up reading from 1-3 and then back to sleep until 6. I'm glad it wasn't a work night.

I do this far too often. I'm guilty of checking my email and the news in the middle of the night. I even fall asleep with my headphones on, tuned in to the overnight news. I've got to stop doing this.

Even so, I got about six solid hours last night.

I got around 8 hours, thank goodness. It's been about a week of shorting myself so I desperately needed a full night's sleep. Hopefully, it won't be another week before it happens again.

Last night was close to 7 hours of sleep, which is the most I've had all week. I slept very hard and struggled waking so I'm hoping tonight is better.

Last night I had 9.5 mostly good hours. But I woke up to a vivid dream that was turning into a nightmare, so that was a bummer and it left me out of sorts for part of the day. Now that I'm headed to bed again tonight, it's coming back to me :( Hopefully it won't resume. They usually don't.

Only about 7 hours. I went to bed early, but woke up in the middle of the night and watched TikTok for hours. I didn't go back to sleep until I got a TikTok reminder to do so. (Yes, they have reminders - I haven't figured out if it's random, or attached to a certain time, or after you've been logged in for a certain amount of time. The "PSA" comes on and reminds you that, although you're certainly enjoying TikTok, you should do yourself a favor and get some sleep.)

usually 8 to 10. Since I have been with my honey, and when she is here, OR I am there, we sleep so sweetly!

My smart watch records my times of deep, light, and awake times. I am now sleeping 3 hrs or so in deep sleep, which I didn't use to do.

It's 2 a.m., and if I can't get back to sleep it's going to be 1-1/2 hours for the night. I finally decided to quit tossing and turning and get up for awhile and see if that helps. Right now I'm having a Pop Tart, and then I'm going to re-make up my bed, to see if that helps. I also took an extra half of a sleeping pill. (Perfectly allowed, my prescription says I can do so as needed.)
