I have told this story before on the other site.
When I was in kindergarten, the teacher told us to line up -- girls on one side of the room and boys on the other. I went and stood in the boys line. The teacher then led me by the hand to the other side of the room. It was the first time in my life I realized I wasn't a boy. Rude awakening at age 6. I have always felt different. When did I officially start telling people I was queer? In my late teens, when I escaped the small town where I grew up and went off to college and experienced queer life full-on. Up until that point, I had no idea what I was...other than some weirdo with crazy mad crushes on all the pretty girls in school. Jake |
