I find the older I get perhaps the "good fight" isn't worth my engry I'm willing to compromise a principle or two!

Is it better to wait for a bargain/sale or buy something when you first see it?

Sale, but plan ahead so you have it when you need it

Is it better to buy a good quality item so it lasts longer, or cheaper lower quality and having to buy/replace often

I had a black lab that ate the baby gate, and then chewed up my pretty carpet. Notice I said "had"
