Taking out some pale yellow writing paper and a purple pen

Rolling the note up and putting it in a bottle, along with some purple glitter and a copy of the poem she wrote for me. Pushing the cork in and sealing it with a bit of melted purple wax.

Standing quietly at the edge of the ocean, listening with my eyes closed.

Tossing the bottle into the water...watching it as it floats.... buoyed by the gentle waves...

My message in this morning's bottle: The thing about hopes, dreams and prayers is that they can be answered even when they're not.

*I was adrift for what seemed to be a lifetime, when I remembered
the song by Jim Croce - Time in a Bottle - and you know the lyrics?

if I had a box just for wishes and dreams that never came true; the box would be empty, except for the memory of how they were answered by you?

The words in this song have helped me so much when I felt like painful life experiences were closing in on me. It's true, the friendship we share is my saving grace.

Quill dipped in red ink - the color of love...

My dearest, to say that you have always lived in my heart all these decades is redundant. You know I will always love you. And even if I never see you again, you are always with me. My life has been an empty shell - always seeking to find the passion and love we shared, but to no avail - it only really happens once.

I hope with all my heart that you are happy in your life, even if it is without me. And if you no longer feel the same for me, I console myself with the thought that it is only one empty heart. That at least one of us has found happiness. And perhaps that means that one of us did not love as well. No matter. I had love at least once in my life - some never do. So, in that respect I am grateful to you, my eternal beloved.

I roll up the parchment, tie a red satin ribbon around it, and place it in the translucent green bottle. I place it on the foamy crest, and point it southward...to Florida. Please unfold this message with care, for it holds my heart.

Well, you were right. Except I found a fabulous Magical Moringa oil moisturizer and now I have avoided that plight (for the time being). I've missed you, all these years, but in case you ever find this note, just know you're loved. Deeply. Thanks for all the late night musings and wisdom you shared with me, years ago, dear friend.
