It's my understanding that the term "Elephant and Castle" ( oft used as name of Brit pubs etc) is a result of the inability of Brits to pronounce the name of the visiting Princess from Spain: the "Infanta de Castile". Gotta love-em"

"you cannot have your cake and eat it to," I just cannot understand if it is my cake then why can I not eat it....I mean I know what message they are trying to convey but the analogy seems so weak unless there is some history that i am missing
