You're right! I admit I'm being a lil impatient. I need to search more and put out more feelers.

I did approach two who's work and portfolios are amazing! Both politely declined. I'm guessing either the piece that I'd like is too small and/or they're well past dealing with tattoo virgins. Iol

I don't have a tattoo yet but I am always pondering the thought of if I did what would I get and where....that always is the struggle.

I have one "right of passage" tattoo I got when I was 18. Black rose with thorns - 1980s tribute to Motley Crue. Lol Reminds me of my metal chick days.
No plans to get anymore.

Do tons of research on what you want and the tat artist as well. Look at portfolios and their years of experience if you want a big piece.

I was just gathering the courage to find out what it's like to have a tattoo ('cause the notion of needles in my skin lots doesn't appeal, but something pretty on the skin does) when I got put on blood thinners, and that''s game over for getting tatooed. I had in mind cherry blossom up my right arm, and a cute dragon on my left shoulder. Might see if one of those places that does transfers that stick to your skin can make something for me, one day.

Do people with those back pieces stand with their backs to a mirror holding a hand mirror so they can admire the piece or even be reassured that it's still there?

I'm seeing masses and masses of what I call "wallpaper" tattoos on kids these days and endless cultural appropriations almost always meaningless to the bearer.

I've taken to giving extreme advice: if you want a prison tat, go to prison first.
