the most ideal place i've ever lived was Alaska, in between Wasilla & Palmer..the soil there was magical and you could grow almost anything.. i grew everything in my garden there but my favorites were carrots and peas that were so sweet i've never had anything like them since, potatoes, cabbage, spinach, and golden beets..and flowers of course..a summer feast for the eyes...perched on a hill it felt like a paradise..i was 19

if you live off grid or in the country learn how to bake bread..it's one of the first things i learned living in Alaska..it took me a little while to figure it out..i didn't have a mixer, i just used a spoon to mix it. around 100 stirs w a wooden spoon..

i did this for a short while before i had access to indoor plumbing...i enjoyed it during summer but when it became October it's a very different experience..i wouldn't say awful but close..
