Well, I heard back from the mechanic. It seems my gut feeling was right; transmission issue.
<insert happy dance for a warranty> Anyway, they are flushing and replacing the fluid and we'll see if that helps. If not, I have an appointment at the dealership next week, and they will have to do the heavy lifting of pulling it out and seeing what's up. My agenda included errands which may not get done since the mechanic still has my vehicle but also home stuff, which also may not get done because I woke up with a tweaked back and shoulder. Sooooo.....*shrug*.....
