I'm currently watching Hacks on HBO. It's about an older comedienne who's being pushed toward retirement by the casino where she has performed for years and years, and a 20-something comedy writer who can't stop herself from offending the wrong people and therefore remains unemployed. Honestly, a lot of people supposedly love this show, so I thought it would be funnier. But it is a pretty good show, and it is funny, just sometimes in the wrongest* kind of way. I've already finished the first two seasons.
* "Wrongest" should be a word, and in fact it is around these parts. It is subtly different from "worst"; "wrongest" implies a greater intensity of not-rightness. It is pronounced with three syllables and a drawl - rrr-AWN-guest.)

Have been watching documentaries on trauma centers in London.
The first one is “Critical: Between Life and Death” on Netflix. It’s a six-part docu-series on 4 trauma centers in London. The focus is on the surgeons and their patients from the time the patient enters the trauma center until their healing is ready to move on to the next stage and that could take days or months. I wasn’t expecting to see the empathy, compassion, connection and concern the doctors have for their patients. I was surprised and touched by that. Today I started watching another docu-series by the same team on Amazon titled “24 Hours in A&E.” The focus on this series seems to be at Kings Trauma Center in London during 24-hour periods. Some episodes are available on youtube for free. I’ve also watched the video below on Sandy Grimes. She was badass spycatcher who recently passed away. She was part of the team that caught Aldridge Aimes. And the video above with Sandy Grimes led me to the series, “The Assets” shown in the video below and it’s a pretty good dramatization on how they caught Aldridge Aimes. I’ve been on the lookout for movies and series about real-life spy moles but haven’t found anything else worth writing home about. Last edited by Orema; 08-19-2025 at 03:56 PM. |
