Carl Carlton - Everlasting Love
One of my besties in middle and high school, Wanda Reneé, had a crush on him. We went to see him in concert and got to go back stage. We saw him but didn’t meet him, still it was a special night for us. He lived on the same side of town as we did for a while. She knew where he lived but we would never go to his house. People didn’t do that in the back in the day in Detroit. Everyone had homes in the D. Aretha, the Temps, the Gordy’s, Jackie Wilson, etc. The Gordy’s had a mansion but most of the homes were accessible and not gated, but you didn’t bother them. Different times, different rhymes… Carl brings back good memories. RIP
