Default It’s almost New Years…

Today is Sunday December 28th, and since my last check in— I’ve lost 33 pounds. I hope to continue the tight regimen I’m using that my primary doctor and our clinic dietician/nutrition specialist has me utilizing: lots of water (drink 8 ounces every two hours), eat a high protein breakfast (two eggs over easy on top of one slice of homemade seven grain sourdough bread, sprinkles of dried chopped rosemary and chia seeds), lunch is usually one cup of roasted veggies (carrots, rainbow and red beets, broccoli crowns, parsnips, chunky celery and baby red potatoes), afternoon snack of half of a sliced apple and two tablespoons of nut butter (peanut, pistachio or almond butters), dinner is usually before 7pm which consists of tuna or salmon fillets (twice a week) or pork loins or chops (card deck sized serving) and a salad of kale with cranberry or pomegranate arils or a micro greens salad with a dash of vinegarette made of apple cider vinegar vinegar or rice or wine vinegar and extra virgin olive oil.

I stay on task with approved serving sizes and keep track of time between hydration and food intake. Hydrate every two hours with 8 to 16 ounces of water; eat every four hours — example: breakfast by 8 am, lunch by 1pm, snack by 4 pm, dinner by 7 pm.

I’m still on the same meds (10 mg glipizide twice a day), my A1C usually comes in at 5.5-5.7 (which is great). I take new heart meds (eliquis which hopefully keeps me from having a stroke and is massively expensive $2k every 60 days).

If I can lose another 30 pounds by May (in five months), then I will be closer to a lesser bmi of about 30, right now I’m at 35 bmi. I was at 42 bmi last year, so I’m getting better at making sure my body operates at a healthy level of goodness and possibly by summer I can be free of diabetic meds. Fingers crossed. 🤞

It’s a daily commitment to eat correctly and hydrate regularly to pull me out of the years of unhealthy habits which has compromised my health. But I’m getting better.
