I'm not going to quote the whole article, Greyson, but one line struck me.....

Bussee said that he didn't feel it was cool to be homophobic any longer....

Oh dear. When did he say THAT? Because I feel ~ to the religious right, at least ~ they feel it IS 'cool' to be homophobic.

And that mindset is now (and has been) filtering into the rhetoric of the GOP's platform, as there are portions of their 2010 "agenda" which states (paraphrased) that homosexuality should be punishable by jail.....that marriage should only take place between a "natural man and a natural woman".....and that anyone who performs a marriage of anyone else should also be thrown in jail.

Now THIS ~ in 2010 ~ is disgusting AND scary to me.

It is scary, DIVA. I feel as if, since Reagon, perhaps, there has been a progressive back sliding of hard fought liberties. It is scary to be queer, it is scary to be a POC, it is scary to be a progressive Christian, it is scary to be a Muslim. Hell! it is scary to be a vegetarian! Seriously, I keep looking around for the hoses and attack dogs again ... if we do not ban together, all of us outsiders, it seems that we will be picked off, one "issue" at a time ... just saying.

I agree Ms. Diva it is totally disgusting and utterly indefensible that in this day and age the GOP has to keep trying to regulate everyones morality. I mean hasnt the American public amply smacked that shit down time and time again....I dont know anyone from any political viewpoint that appreciates anyone telling them what they can or cant do and the Republican party and the christian right wingers seem to continually hold on to this platform hoping that people will take that shit seriously.......IMHO they are all fucking cukoo...

Sadly Linus, it has always been us and them in the US.
it freaks me the hell out that the hard core right is being given so much airtime though.

What I am trying to say is that there were no good ole days when things were better, just that we have WAY better news coverage now.

So I agree with you, I think the media stirs things up worse, just like Hearst did back when he controlled the papers and radio.

Just now it's many channels on television 24/7.
