Hmmmm....how about a nice roast? That will go with biscuits...especially with gravy made from the pan drippings to sop up. And, of course, a nice fresh green salad...gotta get those greens!

Dessert is gonna' be hot fudge sundaes...just because I'm craving one! I make an awesome hot fudge sauce...real whipped cream...toasted peanuts...maraschino cherries

Hi Incubus,

Biscuits are easy. There are lots of different variations, but here's a basic recipe:

Stir together 2 cups flour, 3 tsp. baking powder, and 1 tsp. salt. You want to make sure the salt and baking powder are thoroughly mixed in now, cuz you won't stir much later.

Cut in 6 Tbsp. shortening with a fork or pastry cutter. I use butter-flavored Crisco or regular butter. Cut it in enough to look like fine crumbs.

Stir in 2/3 cup milk. Don't overstir...just enough to moisten the mixture completely.

Turn out onto a floured board and knead lightly for a minute. Over-kneading will make the biscuits tough.

You can roll these out and cut with biscuit cutter (or the mouth of a water glass) if you want round biscuits...or pat into a rectangle and cut into 10 or 12 squares.

Put on ungreased baking sheet and bake at 450 degrees F for 10 - 12 minutes until golden brown.

If you want to try some variations, you can stir in about 1/2 cup of cooked, crisp, crumbled bacon.....or 1/2 grated cheddar cheese.....or 2 tsp. of dry herbs of your choice....or 1/4 tsp. curry powder....or some combination of the above.

Be aware....if you use buttermilk instead of sweet milk, you need to decrease leavening to 2 tsp. baking powder and add 1/4 tsp. baking soda.

Enjoy!
Thank you ever so much for the recipe Jo, your biscuits sound a bit like our scones, only savoury, I bet they're fantastic for mopping up all sorts of gravy and cooking juices.

Seabrooks aren't expensive crisps. I've not yet been able to find any available in the U.S for you ... I may just have to send you a Crisp Care Package

Good morning Kitcheneers, it's 10.35am here which I guess means most of you lot aren't awake yet. Well maybe the early risers in the east are. I was planning on laying abed listening to the radio and reading this morning but the delectable Mrs.Incubus is having her gorgeous long curls chopped off this afternoon and I wanted to say goodbye to them before she set off for the last day of term and a marking frenzy. So here I am. Anyone up early want some tea? I have a large pot of Assam this morning? No food yet, I have to have at least two 'buckets' of tea before even contemplating food.

Good Morning Incubus,

Can I have a cup of English Breakfast tea? I need it after walking three different malls yesterday and walking almost 6 hours...My legs still hurt...

ChrisButch lives in Ireland, and I am used to the five hour difference, when I chat with hym, it is about this time in the morning.

Hope you are having a good start to your weekend,

Zimmy

Good Morning Everyone,

Thank you Incubus for the tea this morning...I am thinking of eggs, Canadian Bacon, crispy hashbrowns, toast, coffee, soda's, milk and juice for breakfast this morning....

My niece loved her Hello Kitty doll, and she had to play with it on the way home yesterday. My arm is sore from where my nephew kept frogging it while playing punch buggy...I am taking them back to my mom's house this morning and I loved having them here...I was craving Godiva yesterday while walking around the last mall, and went to the Godiva store there, only to notice that it had been closed...So I had a Mocha Light Frappuccino from Starbucks instead to calm down my chocolate craving...I will tell you all, that even though that drink is sugar free, it is good and it only has 140 calories in it.

Hope everyone had fun lastnight and are having a good start to their weekend...I am off to run away and drink massive amounts of coffee before the kids wake up...

See you all in a bit,

Zimmy

Good Morning Incubus,

Thank you for the tea...

I was shopping and walking around three different malls with two teenagers and a nine year old. I promised my nine year old niece a Hello Kitty doll for her birthday and I took her to Orlando, FL to get the doll...Her 13 year old brother and his friend, decided to come with us two...Atleast my niece and nephew didn't pick on each other for the hour and a half drive...

Have fun today,

Zimmy

Eeekorama! teens and a nine year old, you're a braver person than I am.

I've just realised it's the 4th of July this weekend for you lot, a significant date. I hope everyone has a very jolly holiday weekend.

Good morning everyone

Wow...I didn't want to get out of bed this morning at all, but so nice to wake up to a yummy breakfast Zimmy, thank you!

Incubus, you're right...they are like savory scones, maybe a little lighter in texture. I lived in Australia for a few years, and the whole biscuit/cookie/scone thing took some adjustments. It is, however, where I got addicted to salt & vinegar chips (crisps) and lamingtons....I adore lamingtons I remember the first time someone invited me over for tea and biscuits....I thought biscuits? Then got there and OOooooohhhh cookies!

Today is a busy day for me...3 conference calls and have to get the son to a friend's by 2 for a birthday party/sleepover. Think I'll grab the extra big cup of coffee this morning!

Have a good day all...and a very happy holiday weekend to those of us celebrating the 4th!

baby....
