I was eating my lunch here at a picnic table when I noticed a big red wasp on my sleeve. My first reaction was to shake him off and he then wandered around the picnic table for a while. Then i noticed he is missing a wing. :/
I offered him some okra but he wasn't interested. I offered him a piece of corn, but he looked it over and decided he wasn't interested. I poured some water on the table and he did drink some of that. He seemed most infterested in being near me. I put him on a tree and he crawled all the way back and climbed up the bench I was sitting on. At that point I grabbed some grass, put it in my Tupperware and scooped him into it. Now all he wants to so is get out. But how will he survive with one wing? Should I let him out? I think wasps eat live bugs so I guess if I kept him, I would have more bugblood on my hands than if I just let him die. It feels cruel to keep him and it feels cruel to release him. What would you do?

Poor Wasp.
What would I do? I would take it back by the tree, thank it for the opportunity to experience nature up close with no sting, let it go, and be on my way.

did you ask it what it wanted? No, seriously. Sit and just be with it. Let it sit with you. and it might not be what it needs, but what you need...insects are very spiritual beings on this earth...
I once was with a partner, sitting outside on a warm sunny day. He had just experienced a loss of his mother. His eyes were filling with tears as we sat silently when a dragonfly came and perched on his knee. He wiped a tear and said how odd it was for the dragonfly to land on him of all place it could land outside and I pointed out it was praying for him.... we live in this world as tho we are unaffected by it and that we dont affect it either. what message could a one winged wasp be bringing you?

I did let him go - i put him in a bush since he didn't seem to like the tree. I wished him best of luck on his journey. It was weird - he seemed so human somehow - very expressive body language. I didn't ask him what he wanted but it was clear he was stressed and didn't want to live in a Tupperware dish. Poor wasp. Thank y'all.
