Ableism and Ableist Language

Hey Nat...I have to dash off to pick up a kiddo from school, but I'm glad you started this thread, and I'll be back.

I am highly uncomfortable with an awful lot of this...and the general tendency that I see and feel in our society that finds it amusing or cool or whatever to be insulting or unkind.

Maybe I took to heart the "if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all" thing....but it seems to me that we can communicate without hurting each other if we'll simply try a little harder.
