Default At La Pena in Berkeley~ Adelina Anthony Friday January 28, 2011

I saw her in a piece by Cheri Moraga, and she is FABULOUS, (and HOT!) So worth seeing.

a Hocicona Series: La Angry Xicana?!

Adelina Anthony. 3 Days !!

Friday January 28, 2011
$15 adv. $20 dr. $35 package deal for all 3 shows online only!!! - 8pm

For 3-day Deal! tickets click here.
For advance tickets for this date only click here.

An original X-X-Xicana comedic triptych of scandalous proportions! Yes, 1 unapologetic Xicana in 3 solo comedy shows performed back to back. Written and performed by Adelina Anthony. Directed by D'Lo. Friday and Saturday at 8pm. Sunday at 7pm, with a post show discussion.

If you come to all 3 shows... you've just participated in making some theater history... yes, come watch an unprecedented performance event as Adelina performs a different show each night!

La Angry Xicana?!

is a full-length comedy show that features Adelina's trademark salacious, brazen, Spanglish humor and flirts with all kinds of cultural taboos. "La Angry Xicana?!" weaves together critiques on Hollywood, the U.S. corporate media, purported lesbian gang epidemics, The L Word, conservative politics, health issues, religious icons, post-welfare life, and the semi-sacred courtship that happens only among queer womyn of color. As in all of her works, the show commits to positioning lesbian Xicana/Latinas as the ideal viewership and operates from queer/feminist/indigenous perspectives. Using comedy as a weapon of choice, the show examines possible sources of contemporary and historical anger among womyn of color. (Oh, and people, she's really not angry, she's just getting even!)
