Today Is.....

Today is your birthday my beloved. You would have been 53. It doesn't seem like 3 1/2 years since you passed away. I still remember that night just as if it was last night. I can remember trying to breathe life back into you, doing cardiac compressions trying to make your heart beat once more, begging you not to give up. I can hear the sounds, close my eyes and see the sights, remember the hospital, remember the words I already knew to be true. I still remember laying beside you on the gurney, talking to you, begging you to open your eyes, begging God for a miracle, begging you to come back to me, telling you our time couldn't be over. You have been on my mind heavy this week knowing this day was coming. Remember our 5th anniversary, how we dressed up and went out to eat. I couldn't take my eyes off you, it was so appropriate that the following song was playing on the cd I put in, I bet we listened to it 20 times that night, lol. You were absolutely stunning and beautiful that night, not that you weren't all the time but that night was something else, I guess my being out of town for 2 weeks and coming back home to you, lol, it was always kinda like a first date thing whenever I had to go out of town.
Your Daddy is with you and your Grandma now, I hope that he is treating you better there than he did in your short time here. It was too short, far too short. I truly understand that saying now, "We make plans, God laughs" , he knew he was taking you from me all along.
This is for you darlin' , I hope it makes you smile the way it made me smile this morning. Happy Birthday my beloved, you are always and forever in my heart and will live on forever.
